"..Sta-bi-lize-your-e-mo-tion..."

Never seen a Boeing pilot telling his aircraft to shut up.

That only goes off if the AP has to trim the stab more than 30 seconds (really aft CG on takeoff and you accelerate to cruise). Does't always happen. I'll take that annoying aural warning over all the noise and Dave Clarks of a Boeing.

No kidding, I flew a Maddog the other day that was so quiet, you couldn't hear the engines and once the nose wheel was finished spinning, all you could hear was the annoying alternate altimeter vibrator.

I was only kidding about the mighty Dog. It's nice and quiet.

I actually would have liked Dave Clarks on the 800. Noise cancelling Dave Clarks and a hot intercom would have suited me fine. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that one.

I tried to argue the point to the silent majority, but it fell on deaf ears...

Boy if that cockpit did have that vibrator then we would hear a pin drop in flight. I'm all for replacing the standby instruments with one of those electronic ones just to be done with that vibrator.

Funny.

A hot mike is something MDs and Boeings ought to have. To me its a safety factor.

Then the only sounds in the cockpit would be (depending on the season) frozen sweat beads hitting the floor, or droplets of deicing fluid hitting your flight kit.

I think Delta is the only company I've worked for that doesn't have intercoms. Night and day for crew comm. can't believe someone hasn't pushed this at some point in time, especially with the 737 fleet.

Other airlines use intercoms in their 737's? I don't remember ever seeing that when jumpseating, but then again, I don't jumpseat much anymore.

Well, the 88 is the quietest I've flown from takeoff to landing EXCEPT when the cockpit window doesn't seal on takeoff roll. Then you're screaming "80 KNOTS ENGINE INSTRU... @#% THURST NORMAL, V1, ROTATE... I SAID ROTATE... ROTATE...."

In the back the 88 is very quiet right up to the aft galley door. I found that out on a near empty non-rev flight when I thought that'd be a good seat. whoops. single-engine taxi's from that seat are very loud. I wonder whats going to happen when that back galley is removed?!?

The ERJ-145 was dead silent on takeoff right up until cruise then it got loud. The EMB-120 was loud from APU start.

The ER on a heavy takeoff though wasn't silent and thats fine because it sounded so good! :D

I was going deaf on the ER because there are those who only want that speaker on from takeoff to landing and with 2 frequencies going on the ground. It was just loud but its their cockpit.

Question - I noticed especially with the DC9 that is seems that is a direct competition to Airtrans aircraft and routes. What is going to happen when all 100 seat aircraft are gone (DC9 30-40) by the end of the year? Are regional jets going to replace these routes or are some of the md90's you have going to be placed on them? Do those DC 9's really have to be retired at this point? There are WAY to many regional jets in DCI, I think its around 700+?
