I dont like how FA's can have a potentially huge impact on our careers. I'm not very eloquent, but what I'm trying to say is that MOST FA's are uneducated and basically raised their hand to get a job "flying" for Delta.....yet they can have a huge impact on our careers. Just sayin

Pretty much true. The details are slightly different, but that's the jist of it.

The AFA has a scope clause that states that the FAs MUST fly any aircraft that are operated by NWA pilots. From what I understand, to get what they want, they would pretty much have to unwind the pilot integration.

Of course the company response is likely "um, there aren't any NWA pilots anymore, so...'kay?

It is an actual grievance, and it has been fast tracked for arbitration in April.

The AFA is playing the waiting game on the new RLA regs. If I were a betting man, if they get the new card rules, they will probably win.

As for the MD-80 mods, I don't doubt it. I thought I heard something to the effect that they annouced a program to do an aerodynamic cleanup program on the DC-9-50s, including a whole host of things such as flap/slat/control surface seals, wing root fairings...the works. Sort of a LoPresti Speed Mod for DC-9s. If so, then they are planning on them being around a while.

Shame about the -30s/-40s. Maybe when SWA buys AirTran and parts them out, the 717s will get a new home at DAL. Ahhh, the irony in that....

My understanding is a little different than what you've heard (not saying I'm right)...AFA is suing to prevent NWA FA's from flying with DAL pilots. AFA claims its contract does not allow any FA's to fly on aircraft not operated by NWA pilots. Delta's response is there is no NWA anymore so the argument is moot.

Look...AFA will file a grievance over what the moon is made of...

This is correct. Unfortunately, it is a day late and a nickel short. Every pilot they fly with is a DAL pilot... we are fully integrated- except on the whale and 777.

Um, like the Call in Honest program? If you're cranky about another group riding on the pilot's coattails, then you are a day late.

But I was counciled "that's how things are done at DAL"

That reminded me of the story we've all heard. "Flight attendant training is 4 weeks and pilot training is 5 weeks? Wow, I should stay one more week so I can be a pilot!!!

Bah, you can't consider yourself a REAL DC-9 driver unless you powerbacked more than you pushedbacked.

My wife was in ATL and the background noise prevented a clear conversation. I think what you are saying is closer to what she was trying to tell me. Considering we're all DAL pilots now, who exactly are they going to fly with? Seems like they're shooting themselves in the foot. Additionally, now that RA is moving aircraft around like a shell game, how would scheduling even begin to conquer those complexities? How about when DAL N and DAL S pilots are completely integrated? What then? Seems like a dumb thing to cause a huge issue over.

I do understand your point, but you are wrong in part. Until the most recent FA hiring, nearly all DAL FA's had a four year college or university degree or better. My wife has two bachelors degrees from a highly respected university, and speaks several languages.
