How long are you on reserve if you are on 75/76 domestic?

And the Heading Selector Knob has four modes? What? Why can't you just turn it and the airplane goes where you command? Who designed this thing? :o

I'll let you know. :) August will be my second month on reserve. The big bid that is going to be out in a couple weeks will determine alot.

Got the offer. Should expect an early to mid Sep class! Life is good.

Heard in the schoolhouse today that they are going to 75/month in August. This may continue through November, December the company is taking a break from all new-hire training to catch up and cover the holidays and then back to 50/month in January. There is supposedly a massive AE coming out in August to cover the 757s and 777s coming. May had nearly 400 different positions off a bid of nearly 200 openings. I can only imagine what this would be like. Also, expect a lot of new-hires going to the 757/767/ER if current pilots don't bid out.

I definitely like the way this is going. Let's hope it lasts for some time. It's nice to be seeing all the new-hires in the training center. Congratulations guys! I've had the pleasure of talking to a few of you and everyone is top notch.

Guys,

Here's the deal with reserve right now....it sucks. That is why we, meaning the people already here, are not bidding to larger equipment. Not to be a wet blanket but in order to have some type of quality of life, especially as a commuter, you need to be able to hold a line. So here we sit waiting for enough guys to get under us to trigger our bids (you can put how many you want below you in category) then we will move up.

So to answer your question, you can't really tell how long you will be on reserve. Once they get the manning semi right you will see more and more senior guys moving over to take the lines.

The fastest way off of reserve is through the NYC MD-88 or ATL MD-88. We have March 07 hires holding lines in NYC.

I agree about the commuting part. If you commute you need to hold a line. But I disagree with the rest. I think our reserve system is pretty good. I have found when I am on reserve (I am right on the bubble, about 50-50 reserve/regular) I get better trips than I do when I hold a line. Further, there are many times when the ALV is low that I get a line worth about 65-66 hours, when the reserve guarantee is 70. Then I am left trying to pick something up the rest of the month.....not an easy thing to do as a very junior line holder.

If you live at your base, I think our reserve system is pretty good. My only complaint would be that seniority has no bearing when assigning short call.

When the schedule comes out do you have a system to change/swap reserve days/trips etc?
