As a commuter, I just wish they wouldn't assign short call to me on my first or last days on reserve. That right there would be a huge quality of life improvement. I've only gotten long call my first day on one time. That was the only time I was given a long call assignment just barely over 12 hours out. I still to this day request short call every reserve day that's not my first or last to no avail.

Ferd,
Flew my first leg in the 757-300 a couple of days ago. Not bad, not bad atall! A couple of comments though....... 1) Doing a flaps 5 takeoff you are haulin' a** by the time you rotate!! 2) After TO and after Landing, the printer spits paper at you!!3) The radio operation is a little different. Denny Cool, I like them too. They have a real solid feel (by the way the 767 is a real Cadillac, homie likes it a lot). Interesting that we went back to flaps 5 on the -300. The memo said that AWABS takes tire speed into account, but like you said, you is a haul'en butt at rotation. Don't know, seems like flaps 15 works just fine and we seem to be forcing the issue in the sake of standardization? The rotation/pitch attitude report card is about as worthless as ahhhhhhhhh you know. Guess it proves the printer works?:D You'll like the radios once ya get the hang of them (took us awhile too). I guess the bus boys actually use the full capability of the off side tuning capability vs reaching across like we do. You know, that bus is soooo wide:D How does it look for SEA? Or am I going to see ya in LA? Ferd |
Ferd- Flaps 5 isn't so much for fleet standardization as it is for squeezing out every last temp of thrust reduction they can do.
It actually burns a bit more gas derating that much, but the cost they save in engine overhaul far outweighs the burn. So sayeth the Kremlin.... |

It would be nice if we could indicate preferences on day/time for short call without volunteering for it. (and something more detailed than am/pm.) Everyone's schedule and life are a little different, and I would think they could stick to the preferences and still have adequet coverage most months. It seems whenever you don't want it is when you get it, and you end up with some weird SC schedules (2 days of no sc, 1 day of SC, 1 day of no SC, 1 day of SC, etc. I'm sure that annoys the hell out of the commuters to have SC, no SC, SC.) I also think the voluteer airport reserve is a good idea. I'm sure a lot of commuters wouldn't mind spending 5 hours at the airport vs a hotel or crashpad if they're getting pay credit for it. |
4. Initial line bidding will close at 0800E on the 12th day of each month.
FTB, your friend. |
Question from a friend who is among the one or two ATL M88 B's that holds a line, the remaining 459 are on reserve :D:
do you know when is the cut off for trading a trip is so that is will not count for next month's pbs run? is the 12th when bids close or do the running bids continually look at the trips on your schedule until it publishes final schedule? Does anyone know? http://individual.utoronto.ca/xander...in_328x284.jpg |
? For LAX peeps
Searching the LAX CPO section of Dnet and can't find the location of the new parking lot. Can someone point me towards it?

Because that's what "they" were comfortable with. And "we" were perfectly comfortable with one. And at some point, we'll all fly together enough, find a practice that pleases most people, and the second copy will or will not make it's way to the trash.
None of this really is about what's eminently smart: it's mostly about what each of us knows, and what each of us likes. Everyone flew their plane fine before the merger. |

I printed one off the LMS. It offers you one so you could compare it to the FPS 2.0 while you were going through Phase 6. I just printed the release and the Flight Plan, the NOTAMS, WX etc isn't that different. The bad news is the one on the LMS is for a domestic flight. But, the ICAO strip would be the same. Interesting about TAS vs mach #.......another thing I didn't see/understand. I guess Cost Index corresponds to TAS somehow? Since we were so over block time coming home last week, they gave us a constant mach (.80) all the way home. Made life sooooooo much easier. Ferd |
