The FOM says we need an ammended release if we are more than 1000 lbs over the planned TOGW - if I'm remembering correctly.
In the immortal words of Roger Clemens before the US Congressional hearings, I think you are "misremembering" ;) The FOM requires an ammended Release for fuel 'overfills' of more than 1000lbs on a narrowbody (1500 on a super premium body). In other words, you show up at the jet and grab the paperwork and see that it's planned for a Block Fuel of 30.0K, but when you look at the fuel gauges, the fueler has given you 31.5K....it's time to give your friendly dispatcher a call. Getting to the hold short line with more fuel than planned is not a problem as long as the Takeoff thrust you picked still works for the RATOW/Climb Limit. I use the Hold short line to crosscheck my Min Fuel for Takeoff, and if I'm above that, I'm happy....the more the merrier, though I agree that unneeded fuel in flight equals more burn. As others have mentioned, I normally pick my thrust setting based on my weight at the gate, not some mythical weight that I might be if I burn the planned Taxi fuel. |

I printed one off the LMS. It offers you one so you could compare it to the FPS 2.0 while you were going through Phase 6. I just printed the release and the Flight Plan, the NOTAMS, WX etc isn't that different. The bad news is the one on the LMS is for a domestic flight. But, the ICAO strip would be the same. Interesting about TAS vs mach #.......another thing I didn't see/understand. I guess Cost Index corresponds to TAS somehow? Since we were so over block time coming home last week, they gave us a constant mach (.80) all the way home. Made life sooooooo much easier. Ferd |

http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...Bid/temp-7.jpg The best is this, especially for international flights when you're making that initial level off PA, and it comes from Tsquare. The forecasted temperature upon arrival and its on the WDR Preface: http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...Bid/temp-8.jpg You know, it took a long time before I realized that AWABS = WDR + WDR PREFACE. I just thought we named one thing two different names just for the hell of it. :D |

Ok, I'm tring to adjust to things and figure out things. We got a constant mach .85 form NGO to DTW today. No cost index changes. What is up with this? Just trying to understand what is going on. Is it for getting there sooner for connections or what???? By the way we hauled 17000 extra pounds of fuel today. Just shaking my head!

New cost savings program announce at DAL. The 744s are carrying around too much fuel so they are being fitted with booms to inflight refuel the MD-88s that have redlights coming on on short final. Cams will be installed for the entertainment of the passengers so they may see the inflight refueling live on short final. Other carriers are considering purchasing 744s to be able to compete with the savings inflight refueling offers. United will start their program next month.:D
Ya gotta have a sense of humor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
