As far as planning when training will occur, they could taylor the monthly APAs to award the most positions in a time frame that would have training occur in the winter months.

Not saying that one system is better than the other, but I did like the information available and the monthly run of preferences so that you could see where you stood on each and ever piece of equipment that you were asking for a position on.

I think possibly an improvement in the information available from the AE system would help. Goes back to the much needed improvements in the IT arena. Just seeing the number of guys and what their 1,2,3 preference is ok, but I like seeing a list of guys as well as displaced guys and what their preferences are. Just more information. Under the AE system you have no idea of how the seniority of the guys runs above or below you until you see an actual bid list. Not really that critical but nice to know. Also the company can see who wants what before they put out positions and can make better decisions about the effects of certain positions they decide to award. No biggie, either system works, what's good for one is bad for another.

All good points to ponder.

Like I have said I have worked under both types of systems and both have pros and cons for the company and its pilots.

If you don't ask, you don't get! I'm sure there were several folks that had a whole "dream" sheet not expecting anything except NYCM88B:eek:

Love the picture, that's the "anointing of of NewK" by Michelangelo isn't it?

I think the 744 went so junior because its a small amount of people who could bid it (less than half the list were eligible d2 the fence and all those were not able to bid it d2 freezes) and the amount of choices open to those folks. The number of WB seats almost tripled compared to the FNWA fleet. (A number I pulled out of me heinie, but I bet it's close to right.) Stands to reason that it would go more junior. Not a dig or a flame, no offense intended.

ACL, got to admire your optimism, but you're going to do some serious brainwashing get north guys to take the whale of their pref, especially due to how low it went this time. I have no rational reason to want to fly that airplane, but want it I do, and when 10400 gets his whale, i plan to be right behind him. That thing is a work of art in motion compared to the unremarkable boeing and airbuss light twins out there in the market place. I'd love nothing more than to "mount" her spiral staircase and find my way to the cockpit (way up in that beotch) and drive her home all night long.
