Ok, I just looked at this projected list and there are a lot LESS positions filled on several fleets then before this AE. For instance, we had about 270 DTW 320B's and this projected list is showing 206 in January. Same with MSP 320B. There were roughly 300, and this list is showing 260. We all know there were a large amount of MSP M88B slots left unfilled as well.

Is there even a remote chance this list is somewhat accurate?? Is it possible newhires will be going straight to the A320, M88, and maybe even the 73N?

All I can speak for is the DC9 A position. Comparing my calculations yesterday after the AE came out, and what the guys list says on the forum, I was surprised to find that they match exactly.

MD90 Differences Training

I'm an MD88 pilot who is moving to a base with MD90s.

Specifically, what training is required for me and what CD do I use?

I just completed the MD88/MD90 Recurrent training and the computer wouldn't take my code. I think I need the initial training CD. Everyone who seems to be in the know in ATL is out of the office.

Can anyone here help? Thanks a bunch !

Well remember that the AE had 661 vacancies and and 355 displacements, leaving 306 openings that would be unfilled. The new hires and the recalls have to go somewhere. The DC9 is now a small fleet - I imagine those guys would hold on until bumped, then they would displace into whatever they could hold (actually not a bad deal).

When I was hired only two years ago, we had people in my class go to the M88, 73N, and 7ER. All bases except ATL also.

+1 Buzz.

That Ferd dude could make a latrine in a war zone with a barrel full of warm old beer sound like the overnight to bid for. :D

Would this be an A330 or 7ER trip?

Probably the B767-400 - big change from ATL-MCO. :)

I've heard rumors that we are going to hire 300 this year. To me that means in 2010. We're not even going to start interviewing until August. First class will probably happen in late September or October. Does that mean we're going to hire 100/month for 3 months? It seems like the classes are going to be pretty big. Maybe 50/class? Is this to bring in more off the street pilots than flow pilots?

The 300 would include recalls. They don't need to be picked for an interview, interviewed, visit the shrink, background check, etc. So it could start quickly - I don't know how much notice the recalls are given - I think we'll hear it on here when those letters go out. Same with with Compass and Mesaba flow-throughs.

If I were Delta, I'd start recalling in early summer so that those pilots could be in the training pipeline when the sims aren't busy. One of the reason I heard why the current AE isn't going to train until the fall is that we need those pilot to fly the summer schedule.

"Fact" from YOUR perspective maybe  I could be very wrong here, but I would guess that there are a few guys that are not so interested in your crusade at this point in time.

This is my best guess. If you were in an 88 only category when you went thru recurrent, it will not take the completion code for 88/90 recurrent. If you are an FO, you will only need to complete the 90 initial training CD and then enter that code. If you're a CAPT, you will do the CD plus have OE on the 90 with LCA. You can do the CD at this point and enter the code when DBMS will take it.
