Wow. First, they issue a phone poll to get pilot input. Then, they offer an online poll with more opportunity for pilot input. Do you need the MEC officers to come to your house personally and ask you what you want? Will that be enough to make you happy? Have you offered suggestions to the LEC/MEC/P2P/Communications Committee to come up with better ways to accurately gauge pilot sentiment? I know this might come as a shock, but you can send your LEC reps email at any time and give input on anything you want? AND there is no limit on the number of words! It is pretty clear that the MEC has directed the appropriate committees to start collecting more information about our wants/needs for the upcoming negotiations. Very likely it will be much more targeted to specific subject matters, allowing better input from the pilots and better information to be gathered for use in negotiations. Free-text doesn't allow for nearly as accurate polling results, but knowing the areas that are important will enable specific polling in the "areas of emphasis" which can be then be tailored much better to reflect the things we think are important. You want the MEC to listen to us; make sure 12000 pilots complete that survey. Good points, but you're missing mine. By limiting the free text they aren't getting the input to the MEC. The reps do take e-mails and I've sent them several but am concerned that many of these don't make it to the MEC. You can make a poll say whatever you want by limiting the questions. The free text is an opportunity to communicate to the leadership without the filter of the rep. I'm happy with some things but the communication sucks! This is a step in the right direction but one step does not a long march make. I agree, we need to get all to fill out the survey, not just those of us on APC or for that matter the DALPA forums. |

Amtraks website touts increased ridership from DFW to Oak city. Over 80k riders last year. That trip takes 9 hours and costs $35. Most likely way below costs. BTW, it only takes 3hrs 23min according to google to drive from station to station. In my Honda that's less than half a tank of gas. This is our future if the greenies get their way. I'm personally tired of the airline industry being the proverbial toilet bowel for the government. |

Wind, tidal and all the other pie-in-the-sky plans just don't have the energy density to make it work, have such a marginal power output that you NEVER recover contstruction costs, or have other, hidden problems. There is a LOT of pull in different directions when it comes to the envrionement. The communist/socialist wing of the greenies want total governement control, because, well, that's what they believe in, and they want us all to live in concrete rabbit hutches like they do in most of Europe. The REAL bunny huggers...the dyed in the wool tree spiking resort burners are just plain anarchists....probably because they think it impresses girls more than pulling lattes at Starbucks for $6.25/hr. The protesters (nuke, oil, coal, fill in the blank) are protesting because it's more interesting than being at their place of unemployment on mondays-fridays. The establishment greenies are there for the money. Al Gore and others of his ilk stand to make a New York Mint from the whole carbon credit scheme. Why ANYONE believes anything any of these people say when they stand to make a pile of cash out off of the rest of us is beyond me. The future is fusion with fission as a standby till we get there. It's going to take a pile of cash to do and it's going to be a LONG road, but it IS doable, and it's the only thing that will take us into the future and get us off this rock. Nu |
While I have no dog in that fight, (I have friends on both sides) I am concerned about USAPA getting away with reversing a binding arbitration award. If the precedent is created, how will we ever solve grievances if the other party can now sue to have binding arbitrations reversed?
How could that affect a UAL/CAL seniority award? UAL has about 1,400 guys furloughed and historically, a furloughed pilot has never been put ahead of an active pilot in a merger? :confused: |
