Heyas FtB,
People just don't want to believe in thermodynamics. Wind, tidal and all the other pie-in-the-sky plans just don't have the energy density to make it work, have such a marginal power output that you NEVER recover contstruction costs, or have other, hidden problems. There is a LOT of pull in different directions when it comes to the environment. The communist/socialist wing of the greenies want totally government control, because, well, that's what they believe in, and they want us all to live in concrete rabbit hutches like they do in most of Europe. The REAL bunny huggers...the dyed in the wool tree spiking resort burners are just plain anarchists....probably because they think it impresses girls more than pulling lattes at Starbucks for $6.25/hr. The protesters (nuke, oil, coal, fill in the blank) are protesting because it's more interesting than being at their place of unemployment on mondays-fridays. The establishment greenies are there for the money. Al Gore and others of his ilk stand to make a New York Mint from the whole carbon credit scheme. Why ANYONE believes anything any of these people say when they stand to make a pile of cash out off of the rest of us is beyond me. The future is fusion with fission as a standby till we get there. It's going to take a pile of cash do and it's going to be a LONG road, but it IS doable, and it's the only thing that will take us into the future and get us off this rock. Nu The USN has used Nuke power safely for over 60 years but we haven't ordered a civilian plant in something like 30 years (1970s) and I am really hoping that they can make fusion possible. The rest is just like our terminal in JFK - putting lipstick on the pig. |

By limiting the free text they aren't getting the input to the MEC. The reps do take e-mails and I've sent them several but am concerned that many of these don't make it to the MEC.
Second, can you imagine the workload on the negotiating committee if 10,000 pilots write their three page essay on what they want to see improved? Remember, the committee is just four normal guys with a few extra staff support. But sifting through that volume of material is unrealistic, imo. Again, brevity is essential, and requires a bit of extra effort on your end, but you can get your point across in 1024 characters. |

While I have no dog in that fight, (I have friends on both sides) I am concerned about USAPA getting away with reversing a binding arbitration award. If the precedent is created, how will we ever solve grievances if the other party can now sue to have binding arbitrations reversed?
(I KEED, I KEED) In no way attempted to re-ignite another North vs. South SLI discussion. Only agreeing with 330 and thinking that it sets a terribly disturbing precedent. Bucking Bar, it's ok, hadn't meant to get you all worked up again for nothing. You can stop now from your head spinning 360's on your shoulder and speaking in some unknown dialect with native aborigine tongue. |

Latest and not so Greatest
Anybody else hear about this one?? Not sure if she was mainline or DCI.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An airport official says a flight attendant who was carrying a handgun in her purse has been arrested at Indianapolis International Airport. Airport spokesman Corey Wilson says the gun was discovered as the woman passed through a security checkpoint about 6 a.m. Friday. The Delta flight to Atlanta on which she was due to be a crew member took off without her. Wilson says the woman is being held on preliminary misdemeanor charges of carrying a handgun without a permit and entering a controlled area with a weapon. Marion County Jail spokesman Julio Fernandez identified the woman as 39-year-old Amber Robillard and said she was being held pending a court appearance. It wasn't clear whether she had an attorney. |

Granted, they are two of the three WORST Starbucks on the planet. But its more than that silly Terminal 4. I'm not going to be around forever you know! I mean, I could be worse. |
Man, some 744 FO just scored a 36 hour GS for 17 hours of flying. 72 hours of pay for a 5 day trip with a 17 hour HNL and a 30 hour HNL. WOW!

I just saw the email, and I'd be curious to hear what those in the know have to say, but to me, a know nothing, the first thing that comes to mind is how many years did he spend in training?!?
Over his 28 year career, he flew as First Officer on the 727, 757, DC10, and 747-200. In 1987, [he] checked out as Captain on the 727 and later upgraded to Captain on the 757, A320, DC10, 747-200, 747-400, and A330. He also served as a Flight Instructor and Line Check Airman on the 727, 757 and DC10 (Senior Line Check Airman) before assuming the role of Chief Pilot -Honolulu in 1999. Best wishes in retirement. |

Anyway, thanks for the clarification, I edited my post, but will stand by my point - I think you should be able to make your point in ~200 words. I'll get you started: "I want lots more cash, no more scope erosion, and better work rules; and I want it all NOW!":) |
