The European aeronautical group EADS is looking to team up with Embraer to launch a new regional jet, a market that Bombardier dominates.
"We're very interested to create an alliance with Embraer", said EADS director, Louis Gallois during the Berlin Air Show. "We know that the duopoly (in the medium-range jet market) is coming to an end", explained Louis Gallois. "China with the C919 and Canada with the CSeries are direct competitors of Boeing and EADS". In reaction to this new competition, EADS could offer to ATR to join forces with ATR to launch a new regional plane. Les Echos indicated that EADS would like to launch a 90 seats regional propeller. Such a plane would be a direct competitor to the Q-400 and CRJ900. The newspaper adds that Embraer particularly wishes to establish a longer term relationship with Airbus, an EADS company, regarding the A320 replacement. Louis Gallois also stated that he expected an intense competition with Boeing regarding the US tanker bid, and that 20 A380 should be delivered by the end of the year. --- So Airbus+Embraer+ATR vs Bombardier vs Boeing. Hmm... |
Makes sense to get risk sharing partners in this seat segment.
Boeing is probably going to go ahead with a 73NG replacement, but the small jet makers are a few years ahead of the usual suspects. The products from Boeing and Airbus need to be more than just slightly better than these jets. |

Odd, the NYC CPO has said that no activity like that is going on because there is not a "process in place yet" but that there is going to be meetings in ATL next week to get the system more defined and they'll know more "soon".

Really people should be seeking out Newk for an influential recommendation.

I wouldn't mind flying a 90 seat turboprop fwiw, but I think an EMB-190/195 with turboprop engines would be fun. But I'm kind of strange fellow or I get bored easily. --- BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID BID FWIW, FTB's name did not come from forgetting to bid for the next month but rather forgetting to bid for vacation. Just fwiw. |
From my personal observations:That that project an entitled attitude about them in the interview process generally do not fare well.

Anyone else bugged by the "I don't have to interview, I am entitled to a Delta job" those lucky enough to have been flying for a NWA subsidiary have? Now, to be fair, flow throughs are full of cons for most of the seniority list of any regional pilot outside of a regional the size of CPZ. There is stagnation, squatters, inability to apply, flow downs, etc. The upsides are there too to be fair, thus, pro's and con's. |

I'm sure training is a blast, sarcasm, with that attitude. :D |

If there is a pro and con to flow throughs, that ^^^^ is absolutely the #1 con for the mainline carrier and pilot group. Absolutely 100% and I thought that sitting at #1100 of 1100 when I was at Coex when it came to our flow through to CAL.

I have not really run across any guys with that attitute - but I am sure that they are out there. I guess if they interviewed when the flow through was already in place, and at that time they met all the DAL requirements (4 year degree, flight time mins etc) they probably viewed their DCI interview as their DAL interview and thats probably fair enough. Now with that said, a little humility and gratitude goes a long way. :) Scoop |
Good luck to the Spirit pilots tonight and beyond!!
Also..I read on the "Other" forum that the first class is on Aug 8th. Anyone? |
