I think your confusing trip coverage with reroutes. They are 2 very different animals. I have been told the reroute situation is going to grievance and its highly likely we will win. Sadly the process takes time.
There have been no issues with initial trip coverage. The company is not illegally covering domestic trips with international crews.

There should be a summer road show, they can wash planes over between terminal T and A in ATL. Near the crew room. Its a great idea. It should be a DC9-30 too, something that doesn't wash real easy.

But thats in IMHO, maybe 6N ramp would be good. Lots of windows in that terminal.

Delta needs to do commercials again, here are some ideas:

Possible Delta Air Line commercial 1

Possible Delta Air Lines commercial 2, the one you really really want to watch twice

But this is a no go. Delta should not, I repeat not ever ever consider this one: Delta Bad Bad Idea

And we should save this one:
Mr. Discount Airline Pilot Guy - Bud Light

While I agree with you that we should save gas when we can, I just wanted to point out that everything you see is not just crews ignoring policy.

Correct, sir. The external air in MEM is a chilled water/central plant type, and it's best days are probably behind it.

On the -9, two engines and an APU is sometimes the only way to cool it down.

I agree that they are not assigning trips a day ahead of time via the long call, but at the last minute - well. Personally, I (a 7ER) was called out on reserve to cover a domestic trip (767) in LGA due to an mid-trip sick out. It wasn't until we were airborne that the Capt and I realized that I was 7ER while he was 767. ALPA added my situation to the list of people that it's happened to - they are working on a resolution.

It happens. Like any scheduling department, the schedulers will cover the trip first, then deal with the possible grievance later.

Yep, they will reroute you in to a domestic trip and then cover the ER trip with an ER guy. So sneaky.

Good to hear about the DALS FA's.

No the IA and GS numbers are from May 2010, the number of pilots in each category is from June since I can't find the PBS line counts for May since they're already off Deltanet. The reason I used PBS line counts is because I just wanted the actual pilots eligible to recieve a reg/res line.

For May, don't ask me why I went back and checked, but MEM DC9 A only shows 3 GS's and 0 IA's. In fact for all of May it only shows 20 GS's for the 9 A in all 3 bases. I'm getting the numbers from deltapilots.org library via the scheduling committee. I tried to spot check the numbers but there I'm sure there is something missing on one of them- hence the preemptive big bird and crayola box.

I'm still curious about the A330. Do we have any A330 pilots posting on here? :D Or all you out rolling in coin?

Hi FTB,
O.K.---That makes sense. I don't recall, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have any GS in May. This month has been really good though. As I indicated, I have 3 GS trips (2 2days, and 1 1day trip). Gotta' be up somewhere around 90-93 hours. I'd do another if they call. Just to re-iterate, the DAL south F/As were awesome...lotta' fun to work with, and I "...look forward to seeing them again soon on another Delta Airlines flight...".
Regards,
Chuck

Its difficult to just reroute a guy to cover. They can not reroute any pilot out of base so he would have to be mid rotation. That means deadheading the ER guy to pick up the balance of the rotation. This type of rotation would also trigger reroute pay. The overall cost would in most cases be more then just covering the trip with a greenslip. Its also like the company is going to lose the grievance and that is going to result in a financial penalty and more payments.

Tidbits from the CVG base meeting. Not much new but a few things worth noting:

8 more 90's from SAS "almost a sure thing." Also pursuing 90's from China Southern now, and JAL. Those are higher priority than the saudi 90's, due to the complications with the MD-11/717 cockpit. Will probably qual NYC on 90 in the fall, ATL in the winter/spring.

11 75's out of storage for 2011. DC-9-40's now to be parked by Q1 '11, instead fall 2010.

conversion of SLC 76 to ER only big change for this bid. ATL likely to follow "at a later date."

Not planning on closing CVG anytime in the foreseeable future. That being said, foreseeable future is about 12 months.
