No - anything outside the 48 US states, Canada or Alaska gets international pay.

“International operation” means a flight segment to or from an airport, or between airports, located outside the contiguous 48 states of the United States. Exception: A flight segment to or from an airport located in Canada or Alaska will not be considered an international operation.

“International pay” means an hourly pay premium paid to a pilot for flight time flown in an international operation.

 

They did that to me once on reserve. Used me domestic, then when I began hitting limits, sent me International. One reason why reserve in these domestic / international categories requires a lot of flexibility.

Again, it only happened once, and has not happened in a while. Your results may vary.

I had this same situation last week. I think there isn't much they could use you for - you can fly 2 hours domestic. (30 in 7 problem), 4 hours on a 2-man international (32 in 7) and any 3 man trip (no 30 or 32 in 7 rules there). But, you only have 2 days left, so it's hard to fit something in.

But, it depends on what time the SC is. If you're on 0700 tomorrow to 0700 on Friday, you might drop some flight time on Friday which would allow you to get called at 0400 for a 0600 show to fly a 1 day trip to the islands or something.

 

That's talking about an "Ocean Crossing" which doesn't have anything to do with international pay. A "domestic category" cannot contain trips that have an "Ocean Crossing".

So the 737 can go into deep South America, they carved out the "3 degrees, 30 minutes" part of the PWA. You still get paid international pay whenever you leave the 48 states, (except Canada and Alaska)

had Delta put CRJ-200s in the 1990s on to the mainline certificate, would we have them today? Or would they've been dumped in 08 or 09 at the latest and a sizeable sizeable number of DAL mainline pilots furloughed? Just a question from the crewroom. And don't read into it, I'm not saying its in retrospect good we didn't put RJs on at mainline, just would we still have 50 seaters? Would we have 76 seaters? What would we have?

imho, we wouldn't have CRJ200s in the fleet anymore. But we'd had grown into the next size up, or two sizes up, but we definately would not be fighting over having the jets outsourced. Of course, we might not have, and we might have just parked jets and people. I don't know.

No, but when I was called in 2007, it was on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. So - they have called on holidays weekends before.
