SWA can thank the pre-911 legacies for the payrates they enjoy today. i am sure most of the legacy pilots (similar to todays SWA pilot) never believed it was feasible for a company to impose 40% paycuts!

Is getting old really that tough guys? If you're bidding your layovers so you can stock up on performance pills, it may be time to shove off into retirement. Leave the all-nighters for us young bucks that can still rise to the challenge. :D

um, looks like I misspelled leinelodge, but given how hard it is to undo, I'm going to live with it. ;)

Nice work. I'm proud to finally have my own FTB Photoshop caricature. I just felt like stirring the pot a little instead of giving Vegas even more money on a long layover. No offense to the more "senior" amongst us:)

fwiw I can't NOT get used. I'd rather sit at home with a zero RAW than barely hit 69 hours of credit. The plus side is that I'm becoming intimately aware of the shortcomings of the reserve pay/credit system this month. GS for reserves should be pay AND credit. DH should count as a "qualifying" duty period. 5:15 should apply to everyone, not just REG, etc, etc.

At my last US airline, the best I heard for our DC-9 guys was $27-28K in a specific month. Had about 5 guys or so over $24K that month.

On the other hand the MAX BASE pay was about $92K...not so nice!

The producers of Airplane actually BOUGHT the rights to a movie called Zero Hour!, and filmed it with the exact same script, except changing a few nuances and lines. To this day, they still own the rights.

Funny how inflection and a few lines makes a huge difference.

See for yourself:

PS The airplane noise in "Airplane" is actually the engine noise from "Zero Hour!"...it was the longest running gag in the movie.

Both are great flicks. If you watch "Airplane"--(own it) then "Zero Hour!"--(rent it), you'll laugh almost as hard at the original/inspiration. :D

I 100% agree ^^^^

As to senior horny pilots, well they're on their own... it's all fun in games until someone gets a passport and a plus sign on a stick.

Pre BK we had MD88 FOs cracking $29000 per month. All thanks to high pay rates and great workrules, especially if flying with a lca, into the $20Ks. Hence, "I made more money as an FO then as a Captain." I hear it a lot.

Btw ATL guys, you can't get GSs on irops if everyone puts in WSs.

Looks like ATL is in meltdown. Tried to get released from SC and was told - major IROPS in ATL and TWC has 195 minutes delays posted. Hoping my APC friends all get GSWC!!
