Doesn't make sense to remove seats from the mythical HVCs. Like Johnson...just a line grunt.

It appears news of the A319's losing four first class seats hit the frequent fliers...there's a nasty thread going on another site.
I recall someone from corporate, maybe even Richard, saying the 319 in the NW configuration (F16Y108) wasn't making money and more seats were needed. I thought we heard 130 seats total on the 319 but these folks are up in arms because seat maps show the planes going to F12Y114 - 126 total. That's only a two seat gain!!! All the effort & money to add two additional seats while removing a row of first class? The reason FC sucks nowadays is because the company doesn't collect commensurate revenue to PAY for the extra costs associated with having FC seats in place of Y seats, and therefore they keep cutting the amenities. Its a vicious cycle and I wish the airlines would make FF upgrades "more expensive" to help keep the levels of service high in the front of the plane. If we keep letting a product that costs $100 be given away for $80, then pretty soon we will only put $80 into that product. |
DAL Furloughees
Does anyone know for how long the "bypassing" furloughees can still come back? It was my understanding that if they bypass and dont come back within 10 years they will eventually get erased from the list. If that's in fact true, then ten years from what date?
Just curious. Im junior and was wondering for how much longer Delta would/could be bringing back people senior to me. |
They have a few more years.

Not to sound like Jerry Seinfeld here, but what's the deal with DAL's Non Rev dress code, and who the heck enforces it? I know the gate agents are supposed to, but based on some of the people I've seen in 1st class this past summer I can definitely say the gate agents are NOT enforcing the dress code.
The worst example I've experienced this summer was a family who was riding MIA-MEM. The entire family was in shorts, tank tops, and flip flops. They were all in first class, sunburnt and snacking away. As if their apperance for riding in 1st class for next to nothing wasn't bad enough, the mother had the audacity to complain when she found out they would have to switch planes in MEM. I'm guessing, because they might lose those 1st class seats. She said 'Well its says continuing service, so why do we have to get off'? The FA's explained, but it still wasn't good enough. Oh, and did I also mention that she blocked the aisle while looking for her tickets to try and prove the FA's wrong? Get out of the way!! Gotta plane to deboard here!! Lemme just say that it wouldn't have hurt that family to walk up the jetway. I'll just leave it at that. Sorry for the rant, it just seems like DAL lets way to many sloppy dressed non-revs in first class. It's embarrassing, and contributes to the continuing downslide of air travel. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this. |
The deal is that there is no deal. The dress code went out the window about a couple years ago. Used to be suits for men (in my dad's age). When I was a kid, it was shirt and tie, then went to business casual. Probably 2-3 years ago, they changed it to "non-existant."
You can wear whatever you want. Something about the company not wanting the gate agents to have to fight with non-revs over what they were wearing and should instead focus on paying customers. Besides, my thought was the paying people probably dont know or care about who (or even what) is a non-rev, so who are we trying to impress here? I always thought they made us dress like that so we could pick out the other non-revs sweating it out at the gate 7 minutes before departure wondering what everyone's hire date was and who was gonna get on. :D |

There is no dress code for non-rev'ing anymore. I think it just has to be "appropriate." Read: "No shirts. No Shoes. No Service."
