Yeah, I had read where the gate agent very much disagrees with his account of what happened. And again, they didn't spell the name of our company correct.

That's amazing to find a 3 day trip worth 20 hrs on the A320. Most 4 day trips don't pay that. Alot of 3 day trips pay 10:30. Something to work on in 2012.

You're correct sir. I went back and checked on that rotation. It's a 4 day worth 21 hrs for reg and 20 hrs 3 min for rsv. Not sure why rsv pays less. So he gets 20:03 on top of his rsv guarantee....right?

"Unfortunately, the man has told the wrong story. I was on the very same flight. We went back to the gate because a passenger got sick, not because of DELTA. After the passenger got off, we left but had to go back because of a mechanical issue. The front door was open, people could get off, apparently he did not. I went and had lunch. Looks good on you tube though. The flight was delayed 3 hours, but I did not stay on the plane for 3 hours. Perhaps some common sense? If you see others GETTING OFF THE PLANE, you should too. Of course, its easier posting a video and crying. Sorry, even a good lawyer would lose this case."

...and from what I read about companies defending against certain internet postings, he just might need a lawyer. And "good lawyers" are not easy to find.

No kidding. Just checked trip assignments today and saw that there is a rsv MSP 320Ca on his 7th GS. Even though it's single pay above guarantee...that's ummm some change. This was a 3 day trip worth 20 something

I wish I had that example they gave during indoc of a Captain who bid down to MD88 A in SLC because he knew they were short and played the rolling thunder game like a champ. He bid as much time off as he could on reserve at the beginning of the month and threw the standing GS in and off he went on his x days and pb days. I want to say he had 160-180 hours a month for months at a time, maybe somebody remembers it better.

Alpha posted this about on a thread called the unofficial guide to Delta scheduling:

Green Slip - Request to fly for double pay. These are given out only when they are out of reserve pilots. The Green Slip trigger is 75 hours or the ALV whichever is less. You can get a Green Slip and get paid some straight pay and some double pay. For example if you are scheduled for 72 hours in a month with an ALV of 75. If you get a Green Slip, the first 3 hours will be straight pay and the rest will be double pay. Reserve pilots can Green Slip on their off days and they get paid straight pay, on top of the reserve guarantee, and then they get their off days paid back. For example, a reserve pilot gets a 2 day green slip worth 11 hours. He would get paid his guarantee (70) and the green slip (11) for 81 hours. He would then get his next two on-call days off as pay back. When manning is short, reserve pilots keep on requesting to fly on their off days, and then keep getting more off days. This is called rolling thunder.

Contract question...... I am sitting short call (have been for 2 days and going on 3 in a row). I have over 63 hours for the month so according to my schedule I am only good for another 19 hours or so, I also start golden days off on the 1st. Our shortest trip (except for a charter) is over 25 hours (turn to Asia), so how can they even use me?

IROPS, the claim is that if someone diverts to West Coast for a medical they might need you for a ferry flight or to cover for a crew out of duty day. Also MAC charters and such. I remember when they used to call out reserves for widebody day turns to one of the coasts and then back.

Speaking of scheduling, there are some good talking points coming from pilots to the union in at least one western base:

"Here is a sampling of ideas from your fellow pilots:

Give pilots credit toward their RAW score for short call (A320 b)
Allow pilots to sign in for their rotations via SMS text messaging (767 b)
Allow rotations that are requested to be dropped before the first PCS run to be viewed as Q-trips (MD-90 b)
Automated notification of cancelled rotations (A320 a)
Improved, accurate, and dynamic reserve lists (A320 a)
Allow next-day swaps (A320 a)
Improve templates for yellow, white, green slips (A320 a)
Have the reserve list show more dates than just two (A320 b)
Ability to bank green-slip pay (A320 b)
Formula to calculate number of daily short calls needed (MD-90 b)
Improved ability to designate which short call you would receive if assigned short call (MD-90 b)
Advanced bidding of short calls (A320 b)
Trip splitting into open time (A320 b)

One simple low-cost item for assignment to short call is to allow a pilot to go low for short call after he has accomplished three short calls. After his third short call he would be on long call until all other pilots who are equal in utility (four-day pilots compared with other four-day pilots).

If needed for IROPs, that pilot would still be called in to sit short call. If a pilot were commuting in for reserve, he would be able to sit three consecutive short calls and then spend the next period of time on long call until the remaining reserve pilots had also sat three short calls. This would prevent a lot of the flying into base, then going back home for long call, only to be told that he is needed for another short call.

What are your ideas to improve short calls? Let us know.

Thank you,

Scheduling Team"

I've flown with GW...
He actually had 195 and 200something the next month,
he does know the contract cold because he was on the committee...

He had no life those months but a good chunk of change, he got his wife on-boar by promising her a 10% cut for her discretionary fund... ;-)

Cheers

Nu

I was on the train in ATL, and I heard some passengers *****ing about it. "But we were almost to the runway" It was all I could do to keep from yelling: Yup... ya got what ya asked for... enjoy your evening at the Wellesley, and as far as I know Mama Delta is being nice by providing THAT!
