Denny,
Can you truly have mutual agreement when one side is threatening the other with BK and a team of lawyers? My point is, that no matter who changed the rules, by definition there was no more status-quo. If guys stop doing the extra flying at this time the union could have said - "Look I guess its just not enough of an incentive and that is why guys are not doing green-slips anymore." But, conceding your above point, I guess someone would have had to organize this, and subject themselves to lawsuits etc.

Funny thing is - I think the above is exactly what happened....eventually. A lot of guys stopped doing GSs with the more restrictive rules and so they loosened them up again to what we have now.
I personally know one of the "49ers" and to this day the whole topic really upsets him.

We used lots of runway, but once we were airborne, we climbed pretty good. This was in a Falcon 20.

I see your point and tend to agree with it but in the eyes of the law, it was mutually agreed to by both parties and so legally not a violation of status quo. What's the difference between a union holding the strike hammer and a company holding the BK hammer. Both are applying pressure to get their way.
I do think you are right, guys stopped picking up time on their own after the 1.5x came into effect because it wasn't worth it to them.
I'll bet this topic does bother him and I'm sorry he had to go through all he did. I think he and the others were "hostages" taken by the company for the purpose of leverage. It was all a bunch of BS.

I don't know how AWABS figures it out, but I remember at my previous airline, we would use Flaps 0 rather than 15 at times for takeoff. It was for better second segment climb - we used it in Mexico at high elevation airport with terrain on the departure.

I believe you are correct. In a previous aircraft, and which seems to be the case in the MD88/90, if you have close in obstacles or a short runway, you will have a high flap setting. For distant or second climb segment obstacles, a higher flap setting was used.

Anecdotal story, two years ago, which is a different world I know, we ER new hire folks living in ATL based in JFK were GS'ing out of JFK from ATL and one of two things would happen: a) if it was the same day of the trip they offered to positive space you to JFK which was great, sometimes we arrived late and the plane was waiting for us, or b) if it was a next day trip they were not giving you a pos space, you were expected to get there on your own.
I honestly do not recall if I was putting in a 8 hour show or what. I remember having some parameters but not many. Sometimes they called with 2 GS's, you go to chose the one you wanted. I chose a Brussels over a LAX-Hawaii once simply because the Brussels was a 6-day trip and that was nicer on a GS than the 3-day Kona. I wish I had done Hawaii though just to check that box off.
Different world but we were doing it left and right in the summer and it was working very well.

So just curious, I got the recent flight ops email stating that 90 million dollars of the 2nd quarter profit has been set aside for profit sharing checks to be issued in February. Having never received a profit sharing check at delta I was wondering how that money is divided? Is that 90 mil just for the pilots or is that for all employee groups who get profit sharing?
Anyone?
