Here is what I do/have done. I use my regular paid for gov't fare to get my confirmed seat. Then I walk up to the gate agent, perhaps with a coffee or box of chocolates and tell them my situation. I let them know that I am a Delta employee on a military ticket going to XXXX. I then ask if there is any way they can upgrade me. If that does not work I have introduced myself to the Capt/A-line to let them know I was on board and can be of assistance if some thing comes up. When they ask if I am non-reving I tell them I am heading to reserve duty so unfortunately I am stuck in coach.

If there are open seats I usually end up with an upgrade.

Good luck

If you want to slam Delta online I would do it on the Dalpa forum that is not public. Delta has used forum posts before to go after pilots. Be careful and think about what you say.

Sailing

There was just a story on one of the cable news outlets about this very subject and people getting fired for posting on social media and internet boards.

Let me add one thing, if you are senior to me feel free to bash on a public forum. If you are jr listen to sailing's advice

Sailing, it is not the general discussion on here, it is when you bash DAL and or the execs. That is the issue. Oh, yeah, and dot connecting.

Overall we do a good job of keeping each other in check. That itself is impressive. (At least to me)

ACL, I know why you are attracting so much attention. With all your dot connecting you are getting real close to seeing "the big picture" which, as you know, we are not suppose to have

Hypothetical Question:

How would you feel if

You had flown with a mixed N/S crew of three on a (insert aircraft type here).

Some time after that trip you found out that one of the other pilots (not an LCA or instructor or special qual) had been spying/taking notes in secret (choose one) and then reporting back to someone higher in the chain of command without your knowledge.

You had no prior notification from anyone in the company including the crew member.

Kosher or not?

You guys will now miss out on my singing and cello playing.

Not....
Is it legal, yes. Is it of the moral and standards that DAL hires and employees, not so much!

I've heard this has happened a couple times. Not cool at all.. the union needs to jump hardcore on that.

btw- the video last night on how to pass the DL interview was absolutely classic.
