Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Carl,
Welcome to the land of molasses - Delta (no matter how many prior/former/experience, etc. etc. former NWA guys/pilots/management (RA included) has always moved at the pace of a southern drawl! That is culture and even outsiders (pilots, anyone else that moves to Mecca) ends getting the "frontal lobotomy" we used to kid about that 0-6s in the military received when they pinned on their eagles. Believe me, I know ALL of us would love to see anything that makes our job easier and better. I REALLY, REALLY wish that we start seeing some of them.
Always remember that we just lived through the MOST successful, LARGEST airline merger EVER. Sure don't see (ever hopeful) much to see in the new UAL to mirror what we accomplished due to the great people at both airlines that merged.
Tip of a hat to us!

Yes really. Our upper management is moving like a small company in my opinion. Very light and nimble. Doing deals such as JFK terminals and debt buydowns, and attempting things like the slot swap. Very fast stuff and I know our competitors must be feeling a little off balance - a very good thing.
Our flight ops management is a different story. Far too slow to perform even minor changes - in my opinion. I think they need to mirror the speed of execution shown by upper corporate management. It would be good for all of us.
I don't care if you think that opinion is rookie.

FAA: A notoriously slow organization doing everything in excruciatingly slow with massive and unnecessary redundancy, taking 40-50 years to catch up with the current situation.....(rest rules anyone?)
OK.. fair enough, but I want you to understand that a lot of times it does not come across like that. When all that comes out of your keyboard is DAL is slow at doing this.. and backward at doing that yada yada yada.. it sounds as if you are placing blame on us, particularly when you refer to things being run by the Amish and all that crap you DO say. And I do think it quite arrogant that some northies seem to think that since they have seen both sides of this particular merger that they automatically know which system is better strictly by that perspective... all the while intimating that since those of us from the south do NOT have that perspective our view on things is irrelevant. This ain't our first rodeo either Jack. You can deny this all you want, but I'll betcha I am not alone in this view. Nuff said.
As far as the Amish jokes, that's just me being a y-zass. Can't help that part dude, it's in the DNA. And for the record, I've never said things around here are being run by the Amish. I've just said that it would be an improvement if they did.
I did it again...didn't I

This is more of a Clamp show thingy but I couldn't resist this headline from San Jose, CA

} The race to the finish line in the 37th annual Dammit Run looked a lot like blah blah blah....
Ok, back to the bickering.
I think all the APC regulars should be on the fight attendant hiring committee. I'll volunteer for recruiting. I'll need a photographer. All must be professional female anatomy experts. Carl, we'll even let you help but you gotta get the viagra yourself. Us young strapping bucks still don't need it!!!

I agree with that assessment on the whole, just remember that flt. ops has to get everything it tries to change reviewed and eventually stamped "approved for use" by the FAA, then the book/manual/paperwork we want to use has to be reviewed and approved for use.....then the training footprint has to be reviewed and approved for use.....then the implementation schedule has to be reviewed and approved for use...

IMHO, if you're at a DAL base, in this case DTW, and its 94 frikkin degrees, and you pull into the gate, and the rampers TURN ON THE AIR but decide not to HOOK IT UP, its a little troubling. Happened to me twice last week. So, the air's going while the hose remains nicely coiled and doing nothing. I really don't care who's responsible, I just want it fixed. That's the rampers job, not mine. And when we have pilots being chastised for trying to help, that sends the wrong signal to the rest of the company's employees.
I try to do whatever it takes to keep passengers happy and move the mission safely. Strollers, wheel chairs, chatting up the FF's, whatever. If we have to be worried about one group trying to block another employee group from interacting and helping each other, we're screwed. No wonder our customer satisfaction sucks.
Crank the APU and then call the Station Manager to inform him/her of the situation (Improper hose connection), and ask how soon his/her ground troops will be counselled and re-trained. All of OUR profit-sharing is at risk, including the Station Managers'.

Yep... And these are the routes that RJ's should have been operating since the beginning (not JFK-IAH, EWR-CLT, SLC-LAX)...
1. We are pretty much at the cap for larger RJ's, and are cutting every 50 seater they can as fast as they can legally cut them
2. They are not very profitable, and we are stuck in long term contracts with more than we need.
I think this is a great use of them in the interim....Also it frees up larger gauge equipment on routes that can handle it and takes inventory out of the system in other places to allow for higher prices in a supply/demand curve.
