A) What did happen with that 747 at JFK?

B) For all the super premium widebody and super premium geographical bases, just imagine if we were UAL and CAL? CAL brings EWR, CLE, IAH and Guam. UAL brings ORD, DEN, IAD, SFO, SEA, LAX and I think NYC? There are so many CAL pilots commuting from DEN and LAX that will want in, I'm sure UAL pilots are not thrilled about anything other than CAL's scope.

Another messed up situation like this one... Lots of pilots here blame North and South, I'm guilty too. Reality is management closed many bases over the years, yet many of the pilots stayed out west. The senior pilots tell me about LAX being 1600 pilots strong on the DAL side at one point. Now there are 60 narrow body FOs in LAX, SNA and ONT. The reality is Alaska has picked up a vast majority of this flying. MD88 in LAX? Gone after the merger? Now many of those pilots with hundreds of thousands to several million in equity aren't ready to give that up for the sake of driving to work, hence commuting. Senior west coast pilots end up in various bases, likely flying bigger equipment while mid and junior seniority pilots ponder the cause of stagnation. The reality is scope and relaxation of codeshare has hurt nearly every pilots career. Remember, our contract says SEA isn't a hub, that has consequences that reach all the way to ATL.

The key there being a NEW category.

Here's something they should check: Are the buttons on the handheld parking light controller color-coded or are they all covered with black rubber waterproof caps?

I believe they're all black. Thats why they have to look up and confirm what they're sending you, right?

However, don't we just kind of sit on our hands and when we know we're going to be towed? The tug goes out to meet them so they know there is one down there and you wouldn't power up a plane knowing a tug was down there and watching rampers approach the plane at 45 degree angles.

Looks to me like the clue is with the ramper on the bottom right of the screen. He backed up and was signaling a brakes release or for arguments sake set brakes. It was 5 seconds after he was satisfied and walks away that the plane visibly begins rolling and then it goes into the tug. At the same time, the rampers were walking away with the tow bar. Seems somebody ran a wheel route on a screen pass or the ball was snapped before the QB was ready. Football. :D

But hey, I wasn't there and this ain't airliners.net, we'll let the company tell us if it matters to us. On that note, did you remember the thing about the AA 777 rolling away from the gate and taking the door off or something on the way? I've got to look that up.

**** happens.

Again, not cussing. Just fun to use the ****'s. :)

Heyas,

Someone posted a good outline on the new duty/rest rules over on the DALPA forum.

If you have the time, I'd read it.
