THat's the thing - the first indication that you have CQ is when it's scheduled. The pop-up you're getting now is telling you to put in your Golden Day so they don't schedule training during them.

As for notification, you'll either get a pop-up in iCrew or notice some company business training in TravelNet. By then, too late to tell them. They could send you to the sim in Dec, Jan, or Feb.

Ok, so I should bid them in December but that doesn't mean I'll be in CQ in Dec? IOW, it's just a warning telling me to bid them just in case they put me in recurrent.

Hey FNWs,

Anyone else having trouble getting their completion codes and print outs for CQ? Kind of in No-Man's land here. Thoughts?

gnewt

I was in ATL in August and had all kinds of trouble getting Distance learning completion printouts, WWO, etc. You'll have to call someone in your fleet department (look on fleet home page in Deltanet for phone #s)- I can't remember who I ended up dealing with but I had to walk up to the 4th floor in ATL to get it resolved. If you're training in MSP you'll have to call. They are having all kinds of computer issues with us FNWAers. Good luck.

You can put them in now for Dec/Jan/Feb. You have to put them in prior to the 1th of the month prior to the month you think you'll get training, because the training people plan the training from the 1st to the 5th. For example, for December training, you have to designate the Training Golden Days by Nov 1st.

But no, you're not telling them you want CQ in that month, it's just precautionary in case you do get it.

You'll find it in icrew under Personnel/Training VTS/Display Update Recurrant Training Golden Days

Does one fleet training dept talk to the other? I convert to the 800 1 Dec yet I am getting reminders to do distance learning and CQ for the 75/76 fleet. My systems DL is due Nov 30th. I convert 1 Dec. Should I do it?

You will get notifications until you convert. You will also start to get Pop-ups from another fleet as your conversion date is solidified.

Ok, I understand now. Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me. :)

Bought an iPad yesterday. Very cool. I bought the WIFI only version. Didn't see the need for a 3G capable one. I'm very happy with it. Much nicer then lugging my laptop around, plus no putting it in a bin at security. It can just stay in my bag!! :D

Actually that is incorrect. ALPA is in fact trying to find a way to do webcasts that protect the rights of their pilot members who chose to express their opinions at a meeting. Anyone can tape a webcast and then use it against said pilot. Word of mouth is a little different.

One of the C44 FO reps made a really good presentation on this last March. It is not for a lack of desire. It is about securing the backend of the webcast. (You)

After talking to some at National, they are working on using ALPA TV to live broadcast LEC meeting (Non-sensitive stuff like committee reports etc) I do see this coming, but not to the point that a person can vote on TV. Again it is a verification issue. I watched some of the BOD in MIA on ALPA TV. It was cool to see that.

acl:

I haven't watched the ALPA TV yet, but I assume you have to log-in and be varified as a member in good standing, with a current and varified e-mail address. That being the case, having an e-mail voting portal shouldn't be that hard to set up and administer. Having a time window, (5-10 minutes), for a vote would be nice too... for trips to the fridge/coffee pot and the down-load... 'portal.' :D

Why couldn't every member who logs in agree to certain conditions such as agreeing not to copy and post on social media or allow anyone else access to it? You could set it up so that the individual logged into the meeting would have his/her name and ALPA number displayed on the screen at all times. If a tape ends up on youtube, then it would be easy to see who is responsible for it. Maybe it would be a good idea to make sure that even ALPA would not record the event.

Anyway, those are just some ideas off the top of my head. I can't believe there isn't a way to make this just as secure as a physical meeting in a hotel conference room.

DAL 88:

Along those lines, the info could 'jump around' the screen so it couldn't be masked off. Or set it up so it shows for only one frame each 15 seconds, like the subliminal stuff advertisers 'reportedly' did in the '50's.
