The contract extension was my hang up.
There are issues with a Alaska merger that would also be problems. Our reps are very aware of that and from talking with them would push for a complete early opening of the contract if a merger with Alaska were to come to pass. The only way however the company is going to go that route is if they feel that someone else is going to make a run on Alaska.

In hindsight wasn't the extension a good thing? Was it not up in 09? That would not have been a good environment for negotiations.

Should Satchip be scared that you were dreaming about him again?:p

I do have a reoccurring dream of missing the van and the ER taking off without me (so that must be Satch unless he's in the Pam Beasley dreams, awkward) leaving me behind in Pakistan. Then I was supposed to deadhead out but missed the van again. It's so painful. I love the maddog.

Is valium over the counter? I'll actually watch it and not tivo it if I could have valium.

Little known fact, the better Auburn plays (as in undefeated) the fewer games I watch. I tivo them and get updates on the iphone. If we win I watch, if we don't I don't. I won't even check APCF, I had to watch the super bowl a quarter late thanks to a family medical issue. I was in the 2nd quarter when someone on here mentioned the score. D'OH what was I thinking.

Without LOA-19/JCBA we would have opened April 1, 2009. That would have been outstanding timing for management...not so much for us. Oh, and the average guy wouldn't have over $50,000 in stock in their retirement plan either.

Anybody know where we can get replacement buttons for our blazers? I'm down one. It went missing in action yesterday, so now my blazer has 5 buttons. Looks silly. :(

Not saying you're wrong. But I also think your statement is short sighted. Any number of scenarios could have developed had we started negotiating in April, 2009. Typically, negotiations drag out for a while... that's the conventional wisdom on the forum, right? So we could have ended up concluding negotiations right about now. Significant restoration to our pay would put at least an additional $50,000 into our pay in ONE YEAR. I'd take that over $50K in airline stock anytime! So, who knows what would have actually happened? But to proclaim that things have turned out better for us by extending our BK/emergency pay to 2012 is at the very least short sighted IMO.

Hear, HEAR!

Tip of the hat in your direction.

You're exactly right, 88. For being so for the "facts," slow is assuming a huge amount in what he is saying, whereas what you're saying is just as likely to be true.

You're correct about the assumptions, but history is a guide.

If we'd opened for "restoration" in April, 2009, are there any companies with parallel tracks we could model after? AMR maybe? Where are they now after 3 years of Section 6? Didn't the NMB just park them again?

Are you serious? There is absolutely nothing RA could have said that the union wouldn't have distorted to fit their accusations. Hopefully the NMB will do the right thing and base their decision on facts.

So ... at a bus stop a Crew Bus arrives with "Decision 2010" emblazoned on the side. A Flight Attendant asks me "don't you think that is interference?" "It is like Coke advertising." ... eh' you talking to me?

I don't know what's in the FA Crew Lounge, but the argument the vote was influenced by painting vote reminders on the Crew Bus seems laking any merit what so ever.

The AFA lost this vote because they failed to focus on the fundamentals. The AFA failed to explain a union's relevance is it's ability to bring together workers to prevent outsourcing.

If I was running the AFA drive, I'd make a poster (including pay) of Singapore's Cabin Staff on one side and Delta's on the other and ask, "if neither has a union, which would you keep?"
