Mass bird kill in Arkansas and Louisiana Determined By J. McCONNAUGHEY, Associated Press Tue Jan 4, 5:57 pm ET NEW ORLEANS – It isn't easy being a blackbird in the South recently but thanks to some excellent detective work the reason that caused thousands of blackbirds to become confused, crash into homes, cars and each other. It has been determined that it was not fireworks nor a windstorm nor hail that killed the birds but a shock wave created by a Delta DC-9 flying in and out of Memphis. And not just any DC-9, but DC-9s under the command of Newk. "That ***hole" said one environmentalist from Oregon who was not on location and did not want to be named. Delta has not admitted wrong doing and said that this is not the first instance in which DC-9 shock waves have created environmental issues. While not admitting blame, Delta in a rash move retired it's remaining fleet of DC-9-40 series aircraft. The Delta Air Line Pilots Association, known as DALPA, decided to remain silent about the incident. "That doesn't surprise me," said 747 Captain Carl Spackler. |

Life Lesson: If thou blocks a punt thou shall not fall upon the ball, the 'fall on the ball' no longer applies. Let someone else pick it up for you. Otherwise, you're going to feel really bad and never know the glory that comes from chanting "Punt Bama Punt".

I was able to put in ATL DC9 in AE bids on Icrew and it accepted it. ATL 320 didn't work. Hmm.
Before the May AE I was able to put SEA320 and it stuck. |
Tickets on DL, ATL-DFW are double normal to $600 Feb 4-7. What's going on? :)
Hope not too many have to commute. Interestingly, prices have also increased from BOS, PIT, EWR, and PHL, but for some reason have remained constant from MSP. :D |

Several days ago I saw that number at "16" for ATL M88/B. Just another reason not to put too much faith in that list (Resv availability).

Will the new AE forecasted to be issued on the 7th include the number of new-hire vacancies?

Long answer, One may be able to garner an idea of how many new hire spots we may have based on upcoming vacancies(minus surpluses) but there is no line item new hire spots available. It will be more predictable once the results come out usually 7-10 days after closing. |
Delta making $$ carrying teams
Watching the bowls this week and enjoyed the hourly coverage yesterday on ESPN of the Auburn team arriving on a Majestic 744 (I'm sure Carl was there). Say what you want, but arriving in a 744 sure beats arriving in anything else. Anyway found this article today on Bloomberg.
The Auburn Tigers and Oregon Ducks football teams flew to Arizona for next week’s BCS National Championship game on Delta Air Lines Inc. charters that offer luxuries such as extra room and generate higher profits.
