I have a question about the AE. I have looked through most of the information I was given, but still hazy. I am an MSP 88 B. I am about 50 from the bottom and in a freeze until Jan of 2012. So, after seeing the bid which included 20 surpluses in my catagory. With that said, what is the best way for me to bid. If I bid a VD, that means I take an MD from someone jr to me, Right? If I MD what does that mean. I figure it wont really matter, but just want to make sure how to bid. Thanks.

In addition, look at the non-seasonal destinations (for now) for the 330 out of ATL and you will see ATL-HNL, ATL-AMS and ATL-DKR-LAD. The rest of the flying has so far moved around between fleets, so depending on base size ATL based pilots may get the bulk of DKR/LAD flying and if may be the biggest percentage of their flying.
Don't forget ATL-LOS coming to a 330 soon.

Is this the month where we get more money for EOM paycheck? Or does that start next month?

You are correct - it starts on the Jan 31st paycheck - It's a much higher, fixed amount. Later in the year it's half the guarantee or something like that.

I agree, the flying will more towards three and four day trips which is what DAL prefers. The shorter trips pay hard time and not 3.5 to 1 trip rig thus saving them the money of the trip rig and the DH credit. It will allow them to do more with less. I do beleive that is the number one driver in moving the jets and making the pilots go though the training pipeline.

We have long said that DAL hates DH and when they can they will move jets and pilots to get away from the rotations that pay on trip rig.

I just downloaded my w2's and they are split in half. i.e. the top of one is on top then a complete w2 then the bottom half of the top one. Hope that makes sense. Anyone else have that problem?

If you do not want to be on the bottom, you can VD out of your seat. You freeze will go with you if you bid another 88 position. If you VD another position you will also get a freeze, but if you are MDed you will incur no freeze.

I suspect that a lot of pilots will VD out of the MSP88 since the category has not been brought up as many had hope. A lot of pilots are sitting reserve at a percentage that normally would not be considered reserve.

Again if you want out VD out, but be smart about it since it "appears" the next bid will cause even more movement, and you may get bumped without needed to VD. In the end bid what you want, want what you bid. With 12,000+ pilots anything is possible.

There's no way you'll be MD'd off of the MSP M88B 50 from the bottom. There may be 20 surplusses in your category, but most likely a few will come from above you and the rest below. It is of course always a good idea to have an MD bid in, but right now there aren't many places you can go any more junior. Generally, your VD bid will closely match your AE bid. If you're frozen, you can still be displaced but that won't happen in your situation. I'm no expert on how freezes work because I've never been frozen, but some of the other geeks on here will chime in shortly I'm sure. Good luck!

I think the company will save more money on hotel bills than on DH/rigs. The deadheads are not usually that inefficient on the backend because they usually don't require a layover. The trips I have been flying have had very little rig, but I don't fly Africa. It may not save them any rig money on Africa trips with really long layovers.

If they had to DH from somewhere other than DTW then maybe DH penalty would be more significant than lodging.

Did they announce it as full time 330? I missed that one...

Seasonally there is also FCO, MXP, CDG, LGW, LHR and rumored PRG. I probably missed some other Euro cities.

Edit: Found it in the schedule from Jun-Oct. Nov it goes back to 777. Have to track the westbound segment times on that one
for 12 hour compliance.
