From all of us at "pilot labor trashing company(s)", I hope your MEC does take a much tougher stance on scope. That goes for all Major/LCC MECs. The regional lifestyle has got to go.....

The regionals are sub-contractors and as long as they are such they will not be able to make any gains in QOL and pay. As soon as a gain is made the job is taken away. Mainline contracts allow sub-contracting and most mainline hiring departments want 121 PIC time to get hired. Its a nasty cycle that can only improve with mainline bringing these airplanes back in house. I think you will find most regional pilots want the mainline guys to tighten scope. Especially the compass guys with flow through. We understand that when the dc-9's are parked and more EMB brought online it only lengthens the time we will spend at compass. Your interest are our interest. One of the big aspects of the flow that was never talked about. |
23k pay question?
A question for one of the experts out there. I haven't been able to find an answer in my search through the contract.
But I got pulled off a trip for an FO to be trained, which was good by me because I am delighted to just sit at home. But they gave me another four day a few hours later. My timecard shows me getting paid for both trips. Is that actually correct? Do I really get paid for both trips? I've been whining to my wife about the new trip for the last hour b/c it ends six hours later than the original one, but if I get 23:26 of additional pay then all would be good. Thanks in advance. |

Looks like management is panicking and rushing to max out our generous scope prior to openers so the baseline is higher for them in the event our MEC/NC actually takes a touch stand on scope reversal. Good thing they are going to subsidize a pilot labor trashing company with firm orders for new larger RJ's with no place to put them just as our 9's are going away and our chief is putting his "game face" on.

I figured that was the case. Oh well.

I'll mention that to the Comair MEC. Maybe when we get done shrinking from 170 planes down to 44 then we can go on strike for 89 days and demand industry-leading pay, trip rigs, and a defined benefit retirement plan.
