Agreed. The 7ER in ATL is out of reserves. They GSWC at least on pilot today, and it appears, moved some MAC charters to find staffing.

IThe answer to the paradox of not hiring this year is that we're seeing declining loads on increased capacity the last couple of months. IMHO if fuel continues its trajectory over the summer (even if it subsequently corrects down) we are looking at "capacity discipline" measures to keep Wall Street traders happy.

Bar, I found your first officer for you there in this picture ^^^ but your plane only has 1 seat? Is this thing made by Airbus? That's like an Airbus trick right?

She sits on my lap. It's called bi-winning.

Maybe, maybe not. I am sure they will tweak the schedules but for now demand appears high. LF have declined slightly, but only because we have added capacity that has outpaced demand, but only nominally.

The realities that are facing us are retirements, a ton of MAC Charter flying and FTDT rigs. All of these will increase the need for pilots.

As I have said, the Fed needs to start upping rates for their own self interests. When that happens oil will correct, unless the Middle East is completely shut off. Employment claims are down, jobs are being created, abet slowly. Anything can happen, but my mood is not as Bearish as yours. I do believe demand may soften this fall but 2012 should proved to be a decent year for DAL.

Projections last year for this year showed us as flat. I suspect we will see Q1 in the red, but the year in the black.

Hey, if Warren Buffett says the economy is improving, then the economy probably is improving. He has smoked all our butts in investing. Just sayin.

Any latest and greatest about what the staffing number changes would be at Delta and more importantly at DCI?

If management had anything to do with it, I'm surprised one of Jerry's kids* isn't flying it.

(as in Jerry Atkin, not Jerry Lewis)

I bet we could find a tail wheel qualified first officer for me:

Hey, I was one of Jerry's kids. I also have lots of tailwheel time. Heck, I flew a maule up to Michigan just two weeks ago. Bring on the DC-3!!!!!! I love round engines. Remember the movie "surviving the game?" There was a yellow and black beach-18....aka the bumblebeach.....I have a skosh of time in that beast.

Depends on the carriers. For us, we will need bodies, but not a ton. CP's are stating 200-500 depending on the rules. Aug is the date they are shooting for to make the FTDT FAR 117 final.

So is it wrong to want DCI to need A LOT more bodies than us? Thus, increasing their CASM just that much more vs if we needed a ton and they didn't then all the more reason to continue the scope smuggling operation?

Awesome! Are you on Charlie Sheen? I wonder if you could pass a drug test if you're on Charlie Sheen?
