So is it wrong to want DCI to need A LOT more bodies than us? Thus, increasing their CASM just that much more vs if we needed a ton and they didn't then all the more reason to continue the scope smuggling operation?

I think Charlie Sheen is only legal in California. Where I live, we have a task force set up to bust Charlie Sheen labs. Unfortunatlely, some Charlie Sheen is still getting through. When I was at walmart the other day, there was this morbidly obese woman wearing camo with her bra exposed and her hair was really greasy. An obvious multi day Charlie Sheen bender.

You can want that and over time it may work to our advantage. Problem is that all of these increased pilot costs will be pass though costs which will become DAL's burden, not the burden of the third party airline. Since it will be part of the required staffing model, DAL will pay for it. As as a result, that is more money out of DAL's pocket to third party airlines who have contracts and floors to their flying. |

I don't have a clue. Just trying to hold on to a little piece of the dream and LA. Lots of discussion about some significant base movement. Just hope its not THAT significant.

Heyas,
The problem with DCI is that the costs there wouldnt just have to escalate past mainline costs, but go way beyond. Outsourcing today is like low fares at SWA, it's just assumed to be a given as a good deal unless some really sits down and takes a sharp pencil to it. There are a lot of intangibles that would br good if DAL took that flying in house. If RA announced tomorrow that they'd placed an order for 76-100 seaters, and would insource all that flying over a 5 year period, he would own the pilot group...especially the junior half, and would probably roll into section 6 with a lot of goodwill. If I had a nickel for every time I'm in our terminal at LAX and a passenger asks me for the T2 gate, I'd be a rich man. They thought they bought a "Delta" flight so they went to the "Delta" terminal...Too bad they're on Alaska Air to go to Mexico... Cheers George |

I wouldn't read too much into it! The news section of DLnet always has those articles posted, and it rarely is when we purchase any aircraft and then only when it is a done deal. They don't usually hint and anything...
