The piece of the puzzle that makes this difficult as a junior/reserve/FOrever is that you will likely not break 70 hours of credit very often your first year. You must break 80 hours of CREDIT before you can begin banking any time. It's difficult/nearly impossible to bank any significant amount of time during your first year unless you are one of the fortunate bow-riders that got on at the beginning of a hiring wave and can hold a line.
One of the few ways a reserve can even get paid much beyond 80 is with Greenslips, but they are pay no credit, so again you cannot bank that time. It's a great idea, but hard to implement unless you're a lineholder. Btw - I'm a fan of the cap at ALV+15. This is in no way a slam on the cap; just a little reality check for those hoping to pull this off. A better solution would be for us ALL to get a sizeable pay raise (or restoration depending on your perspective.) SWA W2's for all small narrowbodies is a good place to start, and then index up from there. That should be a minimum. |

Not sure what you are seeing with the first question. They don't use bank hours to pay green slips. Its possible you may have to use bank hours to get up to the GS trigger if you are short for the month but that is a transaction initiated by you.
In your second scenario -- you are correct. Its a good deal to bank some hours at a low pay rate and withdraw them at a higher rate. Advanced entitlements is another good opportunity to do this. Fill your bank just before you upgrade. Scoop |
OK, just one more torpedo of truth. In buzzpat's honor.

Remember that Rebecca Black video you posted? Apparently you are the visionary. Her song is already a classic. Cover versions are popping up all over the web. Now THAT is classy !!

Aren't they making a new Red Dawn with China? You know china can be brought down really easily, just export liberalism. :D When I went to AMM and turned on the tv the only American station I found was MTV. I couldn't blame the world for hating us if all they ever saw from us was MTV. Hell, the only thing MTV has ever produced that I found entertaining and funny was the Real World parody by Dave Chappelle... oh wait, that wasn't MTV.

I filled my bank up on 1st year pay and took it out on 2nd and 3rd year pay. If you need to get 80 or so hours of credit each month to make your budget work (which most probably do on 2nd year pay) you have a tough time getting it all out because you can only "fill up" so much. If you do 80 hours per month you can usually take out 5-7 per month so it takes about the whole year to get it out. If you do 85 hours per month you won't be able to take out much if any depending on the ALV for the month.

Wheee, ATT strikes again
AT&T to Uncripple Atrix, Inspire '4G' Upstream Capabilities April Software Patch Will Deliver HSUPA Functionality by Karl Bode AT&T recently found themselves on the receiving end of some "4G" angst when customers realized that two of the smartphones the carrier proclaims are "4G" weren't able to upload at 4G speeds. While AT&T wasn't clear when asked why, AT&T responses to Better Business Bureau complaints indicated that the HSUPA capabilities of these phones had been intentionally crippled. Whatever the reason, AT&T has informed users on Facebook that the company will be issuing a software update in April that will deliver HSUPA capabilities to both the Atrix and the Inspire. AT&T also says their upcoming Android-based Samsung Infuse "4G" will come with HSUPA enabled out of the gate. |
