I agree, most do not wear them. I personally use a Telex.
Anyone know if that was carried over to the joint contract? I prefer the Telex 750. If I eventually get MD to a DAL S aircraft is my cheap butt going to have to buy a Telex if that's what I want to use? :D |
I have never seen a mandatory headset. To the best of my knowledge we got DC's and there are required to be as many headsets are there are seats in the flight deck. I do not believe that Telex was carried over in the JPWA.
Now the 750 is nice but if you fly the 73N the 850 is better as it is quite noisy. |

Correct, and do not forget that your headset needs to be on from the start of the Before Start Checklist to the completion of the Shutdown Checklist. All for legal reasons of course.
Next question, rhetorical it appears, is if the philosophy is a big bubble theory, then why is everything caveated with liability excuses. If we are so concerned about the liability, then limit the every move that employees make so that the company is really protected. On a similar note, we are in the business of transporting goods and people therefore the exposure to liability is limited at best regarding procedures and how we operate. |

Almost all of them are wired hot to the CVR whether the intercom is on or not.

1) Go to the fNWA way, and just put 750s in all the cockpits or 2) Get rid of the 750s on all the fNWA aircraft, and then have a huge fire sale on the things...you know they keep quite a few in inventory, too (brand new). They could just sell'em. I'd buy one. Nu |

Intercoms would be nice, not sure why Delta doesn't use them? The 737-200's were just brutal.
The "quiet" 88's are starting to get noisy as well. |
From talking to some of the old hats we do not use them, because we never have. IE the L15 did not need it, the 88 and 757 do not need it, the 72 did not need it, etc, so we do not use it.
