That's because the person in charge of communications, instead of policing the forum, couldn't help but editorialize, and preempted the MEC by issuing a formal ruling in the middle of a thread.

That being said, the "go with the flow" mentality I found after the merger is equally disturbing. I credit the DPA with finally starting some intelligent debate and creating more involvement with the process. I hope it bears fruit regardless of the outcome.
Not a bit....
....and for all the reasons you mention...
It's pretty simple for me: if the myth was true, the cobra would have enjoyed far superior outcomes (pay, working conditions, etc.) than the alternative. I think potentialy all the venom was misdirected. Like towards each other.
Either way, while I'm not interested in reviving that defunct animal, I am in agreement that on our side of the house, we've gotten rather...soft. We were fairly clever with constructive engagement a few times, but perhaps we're starting to look as if we don't value engagement as a tool, but an objective.
I'm more interested in some sort of synergy between some of their better tactics, and some of ours. It would be a shame if the pilot group failed to realize synergies of the merger, wouldn't it?

I think some added vim and vigor would do this union some good, but I am tiring of the Red/Blue debate. I remember the saber rattling prior to our '98 strike. Three weeks later we walked in with virtually the same contract we struck over. My thoughts at the time: "That was a waste. Why did we bother?" The cobra did not impress me as being very smart.

They keep saying that we can't do that because of security issues. Maybe that is a legitimate concern, but they could have a kill switch or some kind of device similar to what a courtroom uses when a judge has a sidebar that excludes those not directly involved in the issue to hear it. I know that would evoke a cry of censorship, but it would be vastly better than what is going on now...
Maybe, maybe not A while back a NW 330 did something similar to a Horizon dash-8 in PDX. They had to completely remove the entire tail section and attach a new one - but they did it, and the plane went on to fly again. In fact, it ended up being one of the straightest flying Dashes in the QX fleet!

I'd be tickled pink if they did but I'm not going to think twice about it because why give up that kind of power to hot headed unlearned pilots who haven't paid their dues by coming and volunteering and falling in line?

I can definitely see this being a problem if you have a large-scale webcast, attended by individuals in their home.
But could you have a limited number of additional locations, controlled by by a union officer, where a scrambled webcast would be sent, and not recorded? I.e. a Captain rep hosts ATL, a F/O rep hosts DFW, and the SEC/TREAS hosts Orlando?
YEah I know.. but I cannot believe that there are not ways around this...
