Sorry, newK, but I WAS an elected rep and I took the time to interact with my pilots. The forum crowd is not the majority voice and they most likely will never be. If that hurts your feelings then I am sorry. I can guarantee that I have spent thousands of more hours than you and Carl put together, working with and interacting with pilots, so at least I speak from a knowledge base. Carl just makes things up and pretends to have some black helicopter theory of how the man is keeping him down.

I know some reps are afraid to go into their lounges and afraid to get out in front of their pilots, but I never was. I get on these forums to speak to the lurkers because I know I never will change your mind and certainly not Carl's.

You are not the majority, I have the experience to back it up. Sorry, throw your hat in the ring and do the hard work, you will find the same thing.

That further shows that the ultimate retirement of the DC-9 is more contingent on a replacement aircraft and is not affected by the price of fuel.

My reading on the previously announced accelerated DC-9 retirement is that was a negotiating ploy to strike a deal with a rival airline for a 120 seat replacement aircraft...it might now be the deal fell though.

(The deal was to trade Deltas undelivered 73-8 positions to the ATL rival, take 717s in trade and retire a commensurate number of DC-9s as 717s come online)

Interesting...because everything I heard was Boeing did not want to lease the ex-Midwest/Click 717 fleet peacemeal - they wanted to lease the whole batch to one carrier. But a lease of 9 is a peacemeal deal.

So now that the DOJ has approved the Airtran-SWA merger, how long before we hear about the DL-US slot swap? How will that change the cpacity reductions announced?

You know what I think is the worst use of energy. A person who supposedly represents an organization, someone who steps up to be a leader of an organization and then skulks around in the shadows trying to tear it down. Wouldn't that be a terrible use of energy?

I could respect someone who came out in public and just resigned and went another direction. I just find it hard to respect someone who would secretly backstab the very organization he was pretending to lead. Don't you agree?

Just thought this needed to be repeated in case someone missed the absolute truth of the observation the first time.

IMO they are just as welcome as the next poster and I value their perspective, but the veil is quite thin when they get in talking point spin mode.
