You know what I think is the worst use of energy. A person who supposedly represents an organization, someone who steps up to be a leader of an organization and then skulks around in the shadows trying to tear it down. Wouldn't that be a terrible use of energy?
I could respect someone who came out in public and just resigned and went another direction. I just find it hard to respect someone who would secretly backstab the very organization he was pretending to lead. Don't you agree? Alfa; Can you make that a little less cryptic for those of us who would like to elevate our SA. |
Didn't seem that cryptic to me. Classic alfa.

Well - that's the fuzzy part. Richard just threw out those numbers, without any way of how Delta was going to get to them. It's possible that they might be cuts that were already annouced, or cuts for aircraft going to heavy MX or to get lie-flat seats (good time in my opinion). Also, it's possible that those are "20 equivalent aircraft" which just might mean less flying for the aircraft we have.
It's possible that some of those aircraft might migrate from the Atlantic to the Pacific, or to South America. Or even domestically - they said in the call that domestic was doing well. Those B757-200ERs are very good aircraft for trans-cons, with the Biz Elite seating. I think those investor calls are all about "we're cutting capacity and raising yields" these days. The stock price is already up 10% today on the news. Steve Dickson always says they staff for Block hours, not aircraft, so this may not change where pilots are sitting, etc. Furthermore, you do not spend all of the money to pull these suckers our of the desert to park em. That is unless there is a buyer for the 767-300G (GulfAir) |
Scambo, I took it to mean that he too works for the pilots in an official capacity. I highly doubt that though.

Question: Will we get a 32% pay increase at the outset of C2012 and end regional jet flying?
I'm just wondering if we can have a contract on par with what Southwest has now and AirTran is about to get for their 717 and 737 pilots? |

Also, these statements were made without a benchmark or a YOY comparison. 20 WB from what, last fall, this summer? It is a "Red Meat" statement with no real baseline in which to back it up. Most of this is seasonal pulldown, and announced reductions. Airplanes will probably be sent to SIN to go through the lie flat mods. They are to have almost 40 ER's retrofitted by the end of the year. They are going to need to pull a bunch off to do that alone.

My contention is who was the intended audience? It's not pilots. It's people with $ in the game. Maybe a little shuffling of numbers? I'm not saying it's a shell game but maybe a Cups and Balls game.
They will also sharpshoot announcing the narrow boady RFP and then the fact that they will look at larger jets too. It is all about playing to the audience. |

Really, they are not. seriously. Read my lips they are not in the same industry. Everything they got was on ALPAs back those ungrateful bastiges. Their competitive set is somewhere between Flt Attendant and Astronaut. That is not where we are. |

Sorry, newK, but I WAS an elected rep and I took the time to interact with my pilots. The forum crowd is not the majority voice and they most likely will never be. If that hurts your feelings then I am sorry. I can guarantee that I have spent thousands of more hours than you and Carl put together, working with and interacting with pilots, so at least I speak from a knowledge base. Carl just makes things up and pretends to have some black helicopter theory of how the man is keeping him down.
I know some reps are afraid to go into their lounges and afraid to get out in front of their pilots, but I never was. I get on these forums to speak to the lurkers because I know I never will change your mind and certainly not Carl's. You are not the majority, I have the experience to back it up. Sorry, throw your hat in the ring and do the hard work, you will find the same thing. Carl did a great job pointing out a weakness in your argument. So, my feelings are not hurt by your claims of my minority status, nor the great wealth of experience you posses. Hell. I've never had my feelings hurt on here. So, before I go drowning my sorrows in a beer or anything, can you please tell me which of my positions are in the minority? I mean since you are certain your experience tells you that most DAL pilots don't think what I think, I would really like to know. Please, be specific. Thanks in advance. |
