I didn't know about the engine nacelle strakes on the -88 though.

That is a great picture of the -9.

Yep. Externally, it's sometimes hard to tell the two apart. A couple of other things to look for... The 88 has a rear galley service door on the left side in front of the left engine. And if you get a good look at the tail, each elevator has one more tab ("anti float tab") than the DC-9 does.

That is a really great picture of the -9. Thanks FTB!!!

I am returning from a short term leave and am just out of 90 day currency. Will I just need to do three bounces in the sim or will it be a full check ride? Just need to get caught up, but not on Jepps :D
Thanks....back to the bottom of the list
ATL 88 B

You get a full deal sim ride with V1 cuts... it's a checkride. If you were under the 90 days, it would just be 3 bounces... sorry..

I was out 5 and a half months and it was 3 bounces a v1 cut and an Autoland to a landing. I was told it was non jeopardy. The only downside is you come back to a reserve line for the first month.

Hey T,

I live there, in Suntree and the only sky god I know buying waterfront is a Southwest guy.

Us Delta guys do have double wides, with "pop-outs" and a carport !!

Yeah, see.. you live down in the rich section of the county... :D Up here where I qualify as being a redneck (Under at least 3 of Jeff Foxworthy's criteria) one can find reasonable H2Ofront.... No Barney drivers up here.

You're right, Clark Howard will explode. Probably just as quick as he will when he finds out ticket prices will increase in ATL when SWA comes in. :D

Clark Howard in September regarding the SW/AT link up:
“It’s so good for the flying public,” gushed consumer guru and WSB Radio host Clark Howard. “This is an opportunity for a discounter to have the kind of heft and national reach of the full-fare airlines.”

Oh how disappointed he'll be. :)

It is hard to tell but the tailcone is a dead giveaway between the 88 and 50. But what I have a question about for the 9 guys, how come the engine cowling is painted silver behind the engine anti-ice?

I don't think it is. One of the pictures you posted makes it look kinda like that. But the engine cowling is painted white just like the 88. See...

Thanks for the answers guys. I just talked to someone in planning and if it is after the 90 days then just like you said, 3 full takeoffs and landings (no snap shots) and a V1 cut. He didn't mention it was non jeopardy, so go into as if it is!
Cheers

Ooh, good point. I have seen it but maybe it's just a spare unpainted part from the previous NWA paint scheme. As it was that same shade of gray, I just didn't know if they couldn't paint it white but obviously they can.

At least with the new scheme the chances of the mix and match white airframes and black noses from the early 2000s decreases significantly. I used to think maybe maintenance had a grudge and was doing that on purpose. :)
