Did you do it out of Langley and on Dare County Range?

Just heard a rumor that the number of pilots taking the early out might be large.

Age 60+ guys are figuring out that it would be plain dumb not to take the money.

Um yep. It may not be what they wanted, but frankly it is all they are going to see for a long time. We are entering a window where pilots will be needed and we will see long term hiring. PERP's will not be something they will offer when we are in that cycle.

Not trying to throw mud at Delta and hope this isn't posted already. Anyone know why this happened.

FWIW, DAL has already changed their baggage policy for Military to four pieces that will be free of charge.

GOD I hope you're correct. We really need to see some movement. Anyone have the #'s on how many we have on property over 60 now? Would be incredible to see a few thousand head out the door.

Baja.

Definitely not a "few thousand" retiring.

Could be a few hundred though. Maybe even "several" hundred? We'll see.

Then yesterday, a brand new thread about DPA was almost immediately moved to Union Talk... while the ALPA/JetBlue thread remained untouched.

Noted. Hopefully that process will also hold true for any threads with "union talk" advocating ALPA.

...and you ask for the jet blue thread to be moved and "VOILA" instantly moved. The jet blue thread was on here for what...a week or two? How long was the DPA thread on here? At least a month or two before it was moved. It only got moved because it started to look like a childish flightinfo or dalpa forum thread.

Being angry and yelling on a web board is no way to get support. Using the tools provided, flagging posts, notes to mods, is the way to get things done here. The mods are line pilots with schedules and family's. Maybe and email to a mod would have been more appropriate. You unfortunately sound like your arch nemesis on the dalpa forum when you start telling people they need better reading comprehension.

I do agree with you on a lot of topics. Just not your chosen delivery of the message. Keep up the pressure on Dalpa though. They need the input.

Respectfully,

Hoserpilot

Smart move, lets not nickle and dime the troops.

That said, You gotta love the headlines:

Soldiers' pay $2,800 in bag fees
Let's see:
  • 34 guys traveling
  • 20 guys read the DAL policy and take 3 bags
  • 14 don't, have 4 bags and end up paying $200/each, but will be reimbursed by Uncle Sam.

Hmmm

Re: Early Out

I talked to one guy with a frozen pension.
He was 59 and a new M88A; here's how he broke it down:

Every month past age 60 he works half of the month for free because that's what the pension would cover.

Had he not gotten divorced, he would have retired at 60. But with his wife getting half of the frozen pension it works out to only 1/4 of the month working for free...

Obviously on larger equipment the math would be different.

Cheers
George

Simply put, 330 moves here, 330 MSP guys MD's down to the ER, senior ER guy VD's to the ER or 765 in ATL where they previously could not have bid in to that position.

Ouch, and viola' Atlanta gets super senior. Smart folks will bid percentages on this next AE.
