A few reasons. One if you looked at Open and Qualified as Satch stated. You will see a "Q" next to it in the open time pot.

Second is if the rotation has a LCA somewhere on it, and they are getting ready to dump the FO from it, and assign a guy in need of IOE. It should disappear in a few mins.

Third, is someone that called in for a commuter clause. Scheduling is putting it there, but will not release the FO from it until they are certain the pilot cannot make it. (Have seen this a few times)

I didn't think lineholders were allowed to just drop a trip into open time.

It is not dropped. It is still part of their LOT until another line holder picks it up. It just shows up there. Many guys will put a trip they do not want on the swap board and Qualify it in the Open Time pot. If no one picks it up, they still fly it.

Ah, just saw a "Q" in the med column.
Doesn't look like the captain is a LCA, but im guessing they may just drop both A & B positions to get the IOE completed.

The paring will list all of those assigned, not only those wishing to drop.

Quick question. I'm going to school in early February making the dc9 to md88 transition. I got my training letter today and in the list of distance learning was a world wide ops thing. I didn't get any disc like that with my manuals, just systems/differences and the esv. I know I've heard of world wide operations somewhere, but where do I go to do the training? If it's on disc where do I get it? Did manual services just overlook sending it to me, or is it somewhere else? All good questions I would pose to the cpsc in the morning if I wasn't so sure someone here would have an answer for me in a matter of minutes :)

Do 88 pilots even have to do WWO? I thought it was only for international ops. Although, I have been known to be wrong more often that right....

Ainīt that the truth. One thing that intriuges me though. Guys complain that using the remote pads in JFK is third world, but more often than not I seem to end up in remote pads while in Europe, most notably CDG. Africa I can undestand, but Europe?

True dat. I guess that CDG and FRA are both so big and have so much heavy metal, that remote pads are a decent solution. I just hope that we learn from watching them and how they operate in order not to offend our customers. They can be a relatively painless way to do things, but you need to do it right... oh lord, what am I saying?????? :(

Personally I think it makes sense to keep the older birds flying out of JFK, it helps distract from the decrepit, Mayan-Built terminal buildings.

That's a shot in the face to the Mayans! :)
