Why does Joe Biden keep digging for treasures in his ear?
|
MEM Base Meeting notes:
Summer flying increase: "Leaning towards" using mainline vs codeshare to provide two-class service MEM DC-9/320: no moves in the forseeable future Hiring: no new hires budgeted in 2011. Might change once 2012 numbers are projected later this year IROP lesson: larger bases more able to recover. Therefore, MEM will see more reserves in the future, DTW/MSP less. LGA swap: fleet needs/basing decisions unknown (assuming swap occurs). Planning on mix of guages and fleets to handle all the options which will open up. ATL: needs 25 ice pads to accomodate last Christmas storm. Not gonna happen. Getting two more tops. New Flight Planning software: RFP already out. Possible decision this Spring. Technology in general: substantive changes should start showing up this summer. Moving to paperless and ease of use. Would like total revamp within 3 years. |

Wow. Basically, everything you know is wrong:
The death of DCI has been greatly exaggerated. No hapless newhires to bail you out of reserve in 2011. The fog is getting thicker...and Memphis is getting LARGER! Nothing will be done to avoid a repeat of Snowmageddon, Yuletide Edition. Delta IT is sprinting ahead of the Amish by leaps and bounds!

I think you need to understand why I posted what I did. Someone was concerned that Skywest becoming a Alaska Express carrier opened the door for flying to be lost if they began to operate CRJ1000, C Series, or EMB190's. This is NOT allowed under our agreement.
I'm not arguing that the AS Codeshare doesn't hurt us. I was merely clearing up a misunderstanding. Even if AS were permitted those AC (they're not) the seats available for DL code would be capped at 50%. In other words, a 70 seat RJ can produce a max of 35 "Delta" seats flying for AS... It was pretty clear everyone believes we will need more pilots. However, flt ops needs hard numbers to make a convincing argument to the company to foot the bill, and that probably will not happen until the 2012 forecast is published.
