Good earning from UAL. Their cash and equivs are over 8 billion. Ever good when compared to competitors.

I bet UCal will get a good contract as a result, bringing other contracts up as well.
Its that whole waiting until we see what LCC does with their Snap Back Grievance, and what APA and UALALPA do prior to seeing our bar thingie. |

Yup, just keep waiting/doing what we have always done and expecting a good result, that should work. I expect a mediocre contract passing by the high 60%'s just like usual.
That is a ridiculous statement. I do not want my MEC to use today's rate and add a percentage to it, when there are two section six talks and a snap back grievance that is going to arbitration open. That is a surefire way to get a lot of pilots honked off at our MEC for "managing their expectations." Go talk to a LCC buddy of yours (Eastie) and ask them about what this grievance is about. You might want to think twice about what a restoration stance would do if this was won. Add to it, two section six contracts are open, and we have a year or more before we open. Yep, lets put something out there that may be wildly off the mark today. |

Sure she's been around the block more than a few times and you'll probably more than likely catch something from her, but the old gal still has a few years on her. |

SEA and LAX are pilot bases (domiciles)
By definition a "hub" has more than 100 departures a day... The PWA defines LAX as a hub to provide "protection" to LAX flying. In reality AS can fly the DL code to anywhere in the world from LAX. The hub status "protection" limits AS flights from LAX to ATL, CVG, DTW, MEM, NYC & SLC to 25% of all flights on those routes...hardly a limit at all. Call your reps or RD (codeshare guy) and voice your discontent... Cheers George |

Delta guys,
In 2003, AMR parked an entire fleet of F-100's which resulted in mass furloughs. In 2007, UAL parked an entire fleet of B737's which resulted in mass furloughs. As someone that is considering coming to the Big D in the future, what is the likelyhood that something like that could happen with say the MD-80's. I know it is all unknown, but my biggest concern would be luckily getting on, and then gas goes up and a fleet gets parked resulting in mass furloughs. Any thoughts? Northwest parked 31 727s, 22 747s, 43 DC10s, 8 MD-82s and 137 DC9s. They did not hire either until 2007 if I'm not mistaken. That's 500 jets in a decade that are gone. The MD-88 according to the company was just hitting its half life in 2009 or 2010. Most of the ones I fly seem to be from 1988 to a few years after. FWIW.
