Could have been huge-er. (that's what she said)
Now we've got these jumbo RJ's flying around with captains making 40% less than our narrowbody captains which make another 40% less than they should be making. Ya'll aren't helping raise the bar.... |

Weren't you at a regional? What did you to raise the bar? You were lucky enough to be in the first class at DAL in '07, doesn't make you almighty mainline pilot all the sudden.

Yes, Yes, Yes - I agree!!!! My point (which I must admit, in hindsight must have been poorly made) was that individual W-2's are meaningless. I will repeat this again - indivdual W-2's are meaningless. As was said someone used a DAL FO who made 200K as an example - totally meaningless because that is not the "norm" at DAL. Do I think DAL Pilots are better compensated than SWA - No. Should we get a raise to match them - absolutely. For the next guy who has any desire to respond to this post I will save you trouble: Random DL&G Keyboard warrior extraordinaire: "Gee Scoop, I cant believe you think we are better paid than SWA." Me: "That is not what I said." Random DL&G Keyboard warrior extraordinaire: "What is wrong with you Scoop? SWAs Pilots make more than us." Me: "I was talking about...................Oh hell I give up!" Scoop :p |
Ok guys and gals!
This is getting childish. I'm all for opinions but it's getting a bit personal and for what? Everybody wants more $$. Everybody wants better working conditions. Get off your ass and get it done, but stop blaming each other and causing so much discourse in the industry. We all came here because we love to fly (I know there are those that did it for the money and hot FA's) Let's work together to fix the industry as a whole. |

Hopefully, we'll be hiring soon and you can move up. If you need a reference, shoot me a PM. |

Clamp,
If you can't see the wing tips how would the captain know there wasn't enough clearance? Experience? More or less, yes. There are references given to be able to judge wingtip clearance. When in doubt, stop. We had a 737 high five another 737's horizontal stab recently with its winglet. Can't explain that one away... I saw the offending 737 just before he entered the ramp. Let's just say that rushing rarely has a good outcome. |

I am in no way an almighty mainline pilot, and I don't appreciate you reading into it that way. Joe voraciously defends his chosen career position to stay at an outsourced feeder we've fed more and more flying over the years... which was a horrible decision. Even when I as in high school, I learned about airlines outsourcing and couldn't understand why that flying wasn't done by the mainline pilots. It has been a long term goal to fix that, and now to restore the career to it's true potential after all the cuts the last decade. Besides, it's really funny when he gets riled up. |
I have to defend Joe for a second...I flew with him many times at ASA. Great Guy and extremely smart!!! Actually, he has more in common with many Delta pilots regarding how bad ALPA sucks!!
There were many "Lifers" at ASA, and that is not a bad thing. I am a Delta pilot and love it!! I understand how RJ's have changed the airline environment and am fully in favor of seeing there numbers decrease. But Please for the love of god, dont make all Delta Pilots seem stuck up, concieted and have this attitude that we are better than anyone else!!! And bringing up past accidents/incidents does no one justice!!! People died!! By the way.......... http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...%3Disch&itbs=1 |
