You guys land on taxiways, overfly destinations while on your laptops, and take out other aircraft....yet somehow you find ways to attack us...

Relax Joe!!! I have thousands of hours flying RJ's. I loved flying them. I just wish they were all on a mainline seniority list with mainline pay. I thought that before I first stepped on one. Why would I blame a backpack wearing regional pilot? (joke) I can count on one hand the amount of backpacks that regional pilots wear. I've lost count how many of my fellow Deltoids carry backpacks now that our flight kits are history.:):) Joe, you should have corrected my count. It's actually TWO RJ's that are history!! I forgot about the A-380 sit n spin. BTW, one of my very best friends picked that plane up from the factory for it's maiden voyage. We had a moment of silence for that plane........and a beer.

Lighten up francis:D

767 bound for Amsterdam clipped an RJ. No injuries reported.

Check out the 4 photos.
Tore a winglet off the 767 and pretty much destroyed the rudder and horizontal stab on the RJ.

Carl,

I have been at ASA for 17 years now. I have had at least 1 payraise, usually 2 payraises every year for the past 17 years. The top ASA pilot now makes over twice what they did when I got hired and we actually fly smaller airplanes now...We did fly 88-100 seat aircraft back then. We are not the problem....

During those 17 years, I spent many of my early years working within ALPA when I actually believed the BS that came out of Herndon...During that time, I had the opportunity to talk with Randy Babbitt in his office when he was President of ALPA...After he got done telling us we were only "regional" pilots and we couldn't get what we were asking for, he went on to tell us that he and the rest of the Eastern MEC made a mistake by allowing Eastern management to outsource the "little airplane" flying to Eastern Metro...He said they weren't interested in flying "little airplanes"...and thus it began...Mainline "big airplane" ego screwed this up forever...It isn't going to go back now...

Because of mistakes made by YOUR generation, many of us have made a career here...What are YOU going to do to try and mend the fence? I and others are tired of the constant attacks by you and your generation that caused this mess...Regardless of who is too blame, it is tacky to laugh about an accident and simply say "at least there is one less RJ"...

Joe,

Just curious. ASA for 17 years? DUI? Stalking? Cross-dressing? :D
Sorry, couldn't resist.

No one was hurt (just like the MSP And ATL incidents you mentioned). So, yes, we can laugh about "one less RJ." But, regardless of who is to blame, the regionals are still just subcontractors - and any pilot who chooses to make a career as a regional pilot has to accept this reality.

People do that because almost nobody wants them! RJ pilots wish they were all gone because that would mean a better chance of already being at a major. Major pilots wish they were all gone because it would mean less outsourcing. Passengers wish they were all gone because...they're RJ's.

It's nothing personal. It's just that almost everyone hates RJ's.

Nah. As long as nobody is hurt, its perfectly acceptable to joke about it.

The only bad part is what 80 mentioned -- there's one ER captain out there who is going to be doing a lot of dancing on the carpet. Anybody have a wild guess what this will cost? Damages, lost revenue from 2 jets for XX weeks, etc. etc. Yikes!
Certainly a blessing that nobody was hurt, but that poor Captain has got to be feeling pretty sick right now.

So did I 10 years ago when I supported the ASA and CMR MECs pushing for a single list, so that ALL aircraft were on a single list....Mainline pilots didn't want the "little airplanes"....Eagle and Continental Express tried the same thing...same result....

Guess what? That was 10 years ago. Now that the ship has sailed, we've got to resort to taking them out one at time as we roll around. As part of the joint venture, Air France has taken 50% of the deal so far.
