God I hate reserve guys who put in Yellow slips. Not really but a nice fat trip that I thought would be GS went to a YS.

On another note. How come we never ask to compare our salary with that of someone in management. I am sure they all took a big pay cut in bankruptcy and all. I would like to know how much of their salary has been brought back up to 2003 wages. Did they take a 40% pay cut. Have they been restored? I remember someone saying that Tilton said pilots would never make what they were making in 2001 but his pay is quite a bit more than the CEO was making in 2001.
I also want it to be in comparison with someone at the company that has similar responsibilities. Who at the company makes about the same as a Capt did in 2003 and what are they making now. Not pilots in management, but management professionals with their MBAs.

Invest in that asset, and guess what, your business gets you a return that cannot be measured on a balance sheet, a 10K report, or a on-time metric.

That is precisely why it is a common problem in most big business in the USA... is it unquantifiable. If the bean counters could put a number with it, they would be falling all over themselves to be nice to the employees.

Well that was almost helpful.

Uh.... really? So you want to make it possible for someone who WOULD game the system to call in sick and get paid every single trip? Really? Unless there is some kind of gestapo oversight to prevent this very thing, there WILL be some guys (and more than a few...) that will do this. I am not a fan of the current system, but your idea is over the top the other way. There has to be a happy medium. Maybe an oversight board that looks at individual cases like a broken leg that uses all but a few hours of that time... obviously that is a guy not gaming the system.. but a guy that gets sick every quarter on that 40 hour 6 day trip... THAT's a different animal. THOSE guys should be hammered.. sorry.

I totally agree with you. You can't run an airline with an unlimited sick call policy. Guys/Gals who are ethical will end up carrying the cross for all the scammers in the system....kinda like a welfare state. No go.

I put in yellow slips when I know I'm going to fly. I use yellow slip to pick which trip I want. I'll also use it to lower my raw score when I'm on short call (I'm a commuter with no crashpad). I don't think there's a pilot out there that would yellow slip on a day off. That's just moronic. When the trips are awarded, a "Y" next to it could be any of the above reasons. There's no way to differentiate. BTW, I hate lineholders that put in generic whiteslips on their days off. They are volunteering for short call for straight pay. As a commuter, it's frustrating to sit short call and not get used multiple days in a row.
