Anybody use short term disability here? Buddy tore his ACL. Not ACL65pilot, just the ACL in the knee. We've been reading the contract but anyone with experience that has some do's and do nots?
Also on a separate but possibly similar subject - wear your seatbelts on the hotel van. |

Because it is very important for ALPA to selectively include data so as to portray our current contract as near the top of the industry. This is how you lower expectations.

And we ALL should NOT forget that we are giving the company back 39% of our pay each and every month.....for the last five years now. How does that add up in your check-book balance???

Final early retirement total stands at 164 pilots with the possibility of adding 2 more guys. Early intel shows 30 747 Capts and 11 747 FOs but the actual list won't be out until later next week.

Make sure Doc fills out fitness to work statements based on pilot fitness standard - walk several miles without restriction and lower one's body weight down a rope hand over hand. Harvey Watt looks for reasons to deny claims. If you have surgery you are temporary NPQ like a sick call and your medical expires until you get a fresh medical as opposed to losing your medical. You do not need to report surgery to FAA except when you go back for a fresh medical (unless for a "disqualifying" condition) |

On paper, I'm sure we are above whatever PBS number is agreed to. But we have paid hundreds of widebody Capts and FOs to sit home for MONTHS with FULL PAY because DL couldn't figure out how to staff a bakesale let alone an international airline. How much did that cost us? GS's are flying out the door this summer because nobody has been trained. The rest of us are flying our cans off to make up, with that I'd agree.

TOE is in full swing but they are dealing with the backlog quickly. The four month sits at home went away a few months ago. All of the stuff you are seeing go to GS's are due to sick out. I have flown every rotation the last two months due to last minute sick outs. I like it because I get great layos, but it is probably killing the company to see a reserve guy timing out by mid month.
Must be nice unless of course you are in LAX and you commute in 6 times a month for 60 hours of pay to cover 10 hour 3 days.... sucks being Jr.!! |
