Not to be a downer, but I doubt they'll hire this year.

Back in April or May management announced a planned 4% capacity pulldown for the 3rd/4th quarter compared to last year. That's more than enough to absorb the 164 guys that are retiring during the rest of the year. My bet is that they won't hire until fall 2012 unless next summer's block hours are planned way up. If the economy doesn't puke and there aren't any legislative/ownership/cabotage surprises, they'll need to hire every year after that as age 65 kicks in.

Thanks for the info, but I personally wasn't talking about this year. :)
Everything I was talking about(retirements/slot swap) IMO won't be in full swing until next year anyways.

I'm the same.
I take a screen shot pretty much every time I log on to DBMS.
It only takes a half second. Might as well have it.

If you use Firefox there are a few addons that are free. I used Gadwin Print screen and it is freeware. (It is not an add-on though)

Good stuff. I talked to the F/O rep and it's even happened to him. I agree with FTB if the passengers get where they're going on time and are happy that increases the chances they'll fly Delta again and we all get paid and I can buy diapers for my new poop machine

I agree with your statement, my only point is, if we allow them latitude on the PWA, they will take it, and over time that latitude can become practice. They are over worked, understaffed, and working on a vertical learning curve up there. Unless someone tells them the correct way, they will learn the wrong way, and then never know how to actually perform the job as described.

I too will acknowledge a assignment prior to my window, but only if it works to my favor, I have seen many trips removed and I get reassigned something else, so sometimes it pays to be patient.

Nice job! How old are you?

Just because you want to waste time and gas doesn't mean the rest of us want to. I'm not SWA and I like to taxi faster than a slow walk.

It's sad to see a group of grown men engage in such catty behavior, all over jealously and envy. Channel that anger into your negotiators, and you might actually get a contract you can be proud of. Or there's the alternative: what your doing now.

Grow up.

Shut up!!!!!

I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I flew with the sun up. At this point, I'm a mole. I can't see anymore.

Or you could grow up and stop being judge-mental on something you know nothing about. Taxiing slower and SE saves gas, both things SWA don't do. As far as the 'jealously & envy' go there isn't any of that. I had every opportunity to apply to SWA and didn't. Stop assuming everyone is envious of SWA, & stop lashing out at everyone who dare insults your almighty SWA.

Talk about being childish. Pot, meet kettle.

I fail to see any immaturity in my post. I was simply stating that you guys waste more than just SWA's time. You've wasted some of mine too, so I'm quite familiar with the topic. I saw plenty of immaturity in yours, since you were so proud you made SWA slow down, and waste time and gas. Again, kudos; you really showed them.

If you don't want to taxi fast, that's fine, but be courteous to those behind you with a schedule to keep, or who are late, or don't want to ride the brakes all the way to the runway.

.

Tell me a time when taxing 5 mph or 40mph actually made a difference. Calm down, slow down, take a big breath and more importantly BE SAFE!

A pilot who rushes, is a pilot with some "other" problems.
