A B Scale was "unfair" because it had two FO on the SAME equipment making radically different pay for the same work. It was an exaggerated form of longevity pay. What was "unfair" about it is that you had current ALPA members deriving a benefit at the "cost" of future members so that you could have one 737FO making $45 and another making $120.
PM Sent for the rest.

To split up that post ...
We see objective signs in ALPA as exemplified by the published statements from our Reps and action on the MEC resolution to NOT negotiate further scope erosion.
I do think the political center of gravity is shifting. There are still several economic hurdles to face down. Most importantly "unity" has to become religion around here.

It appears that by making such a statement that now you are trying to establish a hierarchy and assign a status to pilots based on ones prior experience.
Not particularly intelligent especially for someone in your position.
It was contained in a Letter of Agreement called "Sunshine Operation".
Back in those days the contract listed rates per minute for Captains and a percentage of that rate for FOs.
The sunshine captains were mostly between 5 and 8 years seniority.
The FOs were mostly new hires.
5th year Capt rate -- $1.729167 per min (roughly $103 per hour)
8th year Capt rate -- $1.800500 (roughly $108 per hour)
1st year FO -- $0.55 per minute
2nd year FO -- 45% capt rate
3rd year -- 54%
4th year -- 63%
.
.
10th year -- 68%
Its hard to calculate the mainline rate for comparison because it was so complex.
We got "base pay" plus hourly "speed pay" plus "mileage pay" plus "gross weight pay".
Let's just say the Sunshine captains were workin for about half pay. Maybe 2/3 of mainline.

Thanks to the situation in New York, pilots, especially reserves, may find their jobs lacking in some of the finer quality of life aspects which are typically enjoyed by inmates, POWs in Western Countries and those in mental hospitals. Just be aware, it could be worse. You could be a FOX News reporter down stream from the sewer plant during a flood:
