The whole reason I moved from New Hampshire to Florida was because it took me and my family 2 days to get home from Disney World...using my Vacation Passes on DL.
I prefer NOT to go back to the airport on my Vacation. Now I just walk out in my backyard and pull up the mainsail, and I'm gone... on "Vacation" every day I'm off, when the wind is blowing.
If it's not blowing, I'll have to mow the lawn.
Some say, "I would never commute!" and live 30 minutes from the ATL, and hope to get a Greenslip once in a while.
I prefer to live where I like, but within my means, and never have to worry about chasing the greenslips.

That's what needs to be corrected. Once it is, we can look into vacation passes as a legitimate perk, not a band aid trying to cover up grave dancing bonus mongering emergency survival contracts that divert money to "executive talent" instead.

I just thought it was odd that such a random third tier issue was embedded in lines of questioning that tried to get us to choose between scope and pay, retirement and work rules, etc. The survey was very much a "the pie is only so big so what do you want and what can you live without" and yet here is this interesting but extremely low priority issue.
Fix pay, scope, work rules and retirement and we could afford our own tickets...although if, after all that, the company still wanted to offer them as a perk, rock on!

I hate to say it but I think you are right. Most Captains I have flown with in the last month or two have been very relaxed with the notion of a small raise and some work rule changes.
I hope the survey tells a different story..
This is the reason we should never vote to lower our benefits and pay. Let them forcefully take it from us because once we voluntarily give them away, it will be very hard to get them back.

Wasn't too hard to find this info for Air France pilots as of August 2011:
Top Captain pay is 9,700 Euros/month after taxes. Now, for a little math:
9,700 Euros = $13,190 US Dollars
Top tier French taxation is over 50%
$13,190 US Dollars After taxes = about $26,380 Before taxes (conservatively)
$26,380 X 12 months = $316,560 Annually.
And of course with France's pseudo-socialist state, many things that we pay for are not paid for by Air France pilots. But let's leave that out of the discussion and just simply say that $316,560 Annually sounds like a great floor for our Section 6 based on our direct competitors and JV "partners". I know the NMB will agree.
Here's the link I got the 9,700 euros/month figure: Air France-KLM/ jobs, payscales and entry requirements.
DALPA is doing EVERYTHING in its power to keep truthful comparisons from us. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?

Are you suggesting that the FO's take more pay cuts in order to increase the captain pay?

I've heard a rumor that the "Chili de Conquistadors" that I had for dinner, washed down with a flat, tepid Diet Coke served up by an irritable waiter, will soon be flowing through. Judging from the looks I got in the car, more than one person has heard this as well. I should know more details in a minute or two.

I don't know what base/category you are in, but the other Captains I've been flying with (and they are the MOST senior Captains we have, single and two digit seniority numbers) are mad as hell and NOT about to sign on for anything less than 25%, PLUS a whole lot of other stuff.
Maybe it's because they lost the most, dollar wise, (over a $100/hr. pay cut and over a Million in their DB's) and have the least amount of time to recoup it, as this will be their last contract, but I have been flying with the most senior guys and they are very PO'd.
The F/O's on the other hand, seem ready to settle for a quicker, smaller, raise, with no talk of a job action from them. Maybe it's because they are already overextended, have kids in college and not willing to walk, where the senior Capt.s are about to turn 65 and be gone anyway.

Makes sense, DAL loves their ASA pilots, except for yours truly, and ASA has done a lot for DAL.
