It's called managing expectations, and apparently it is scripted via a high ranking ALPA member. That guy with the website has almost 4000 Delta pilots behind him, but go ahead and minimize that, Wilson Polling sure doesn't. That is why ALPA needs to go. The good thing is the DPA is gaining momentum, and a bad first TA via ALPA could push the DPA cards in via waves. It's all about results this time, and Delta's finances are better, (including $952 million in bag fees last year) so that excuse won't work. ALPA could lose the $38 million in dues from Delta each year, and YOU know it. Put out a great TA, or expect the vote. I can't wait. Either ALPA gives us a TA worthy to vote on with no excuses, or we can vote for something different, and with the second round of consolidation coming up (not my words, a high level guy's, even more leverage btw) there is no excuse.

I wouldnt say he has almost 4000 pilots behind him. I think the more appropriate statement is that almost 4000 pilots have submitted a DPA card. Whether all are behind him is a entirely different argument.

I'm not trying to call you out. I'm merely pointing out the very good possibility that some guys submitted the DPA card solely to poke ALPA in the eye. Some would likely still vote NO for DPA.

btw, I just included SWA and FedEx in my discussion. Tough getting off the donut website talking points, isn't it...:p

Yeah, that guy with the website, no results, and checkered legal advice is the panacea you seek...

You sure sound like a rep, and that DPA guy has plenty of legit people already working on recruitment, which is growing by the day. If the eventual TA isn't good, look for a vote soon after. It's great you discount almost 4000 pilots who are obviously disgruntled. Oh, you forgot about them.... And that number will grow. Tell the other reps that please. And are my expectations easily managed by this discussion, or the fact that reps are repeating what you are saying? That's the scary part. Look, tell the negotiators and your bosses to get us a great TA, ok? You sound like their point guy, or spin doctor. Big profits means big payday, or new agent to represent. Keep forgetting about the almost 4000 who have already decided they want a vote on the matter.

That's a fair point.

But without polling we really have no idea. There are probably pilots out there who have not gotten off their couch to print a card, grab a stamp and mail it but would vote out ALPA. It'd be interesting to hear a legit poll of where pilots sit.

Question, is this the first section 6 for either airline with nearly 1/3 of the pilots signing a card for another union? I'd guess so.

Nope. After every merger/acquisition we've had an attempt for a new bargaining agent. PER (pilots for equitable representation) was the first I remember, but there was no Section 6 active when they were around. Then came PPA. They got cards representing 42% and helped create the environment for our POS96 contract.

I heard the other day that LM was seen flying a DL jet. I guess he has to stay current so he take a job in management when his term expires.

First, why wasn't contract 96 in the Contract History? It'd been a good read instead of just starting with NWA 1998. I'd like to have read more about this early out thing.

Second, 42% was a lot, why if contract 96 was such a POS did they not pass?

Finally, do you think if leadership had been better there would not have been a DPA push of 3800+ pilots?

Out of curiosity since questions are often asked of the DPA folks about what would they do different, what would you have done different than LM/TO to put down DPA a long time ago or prevent it from having 3,856 cards today as we approach section 6?

Rumor from someone in the CPO's office in ATL is 400 MD's off ATL 767.

Anyone else heard anything like that?

Hmmm that would not be good news

Bummer. This AE rumor sounded so SURE this time! Of course, they've never published one on the actual day they were "supposed to", so I shouldn't have expected it. Oh well... Anyone got any more AE rumors?
