Hey 1234,
After 30 years at FDX I'll have to say : you couldn't be more wrong about FDX pilot's customer impact and brand loyalty. Your opinion is shaped from the outside looking in......not always accurate. Caravan scope was a negotiated portion of the contract that was actually beneficial to both sides.
Besides, would you really want to fly a single-engine turboprop, single pilot in Cat II / icing conditions ? Me neither.
Anyway, the payload on the caravan is very small, and it allows FDX to serve very small markets that would otherwise not be served. The caravans only feed FDX mainline, and that rising tide actually does float the FDX pilot's boats.
Pay attention to Carl, his delivery may be too curt for your taste, but he's on target the vast majority of the time.
Rant over,
BG

TSquare,
You know, when I said "...go kick your dog or something, you seem tense." I was just kidding
Delta investigates dog death; family says pug froze to death - Atlanta Business Chronicle
I agree that holding the line is going to be tough without some help from DAL and UCAL. Don't let me down, TSquare please, I beg.

Stocks are going down today. But Republic (Rjet) is going up. Why would such a "dog" of a company with so much debt, liability and "dumb" management team be doing so well in the market today? One of the many reasons I do not trust the markets. Just watch. (fundamentally Rjet is garbage)

Someday.. maybe not next year.. or the year after, or the year after.. or... but someday, something's got to give. You will not be able to hold management (and the shareholders) hostage like you have in the past. They are handcuffed, and that cannot continue. The question is whether you have the balls to strike, and whether that Karma will bite you in the buttinski when/if you do. After your display as of late, I can wager that you won't have much support from the rest of the industry. You might have a problem that you created right in your own backyard. Pass the popcorn.

Does anyone know if the value of a reserve day changes during a vacation month? Normally a PD would cost roughly 3.89 hours. 70/18=3.89
Now with 7 days of vacation there are only 24 reserve days in the bid period with 10 pro rated X days. So now 70/14=5. I'm not charged 5 hours per reserve day PD, am I?
