My post wasn't meant to incite a riot. However, IMO it doesn't bode well for the DAL pilots. I agree that there are many ways to get around the JV language - from a legal or business perspective. If that is the intent of the company, we are doomed anyway. If the intent was flexibility during a time of economic difficulty, there should have been some snapback language - if there is such language, I'm not aware of it.

Its getting to be time to replace the mommy mobile. Mrs Scambo has narrowed her desires to the Honda crv, the toyota rav 4, and the kia sportage. All 2wd all midrange trim levels. I have done the online research, just wondering about anyone's personal experiences with the above vehicles.

We had a CRV until we up gauged to a Honda Odyssey (after second kid and, ugh, fourth dog). Nothing bad to say. Midrange trim is more than adequate (at least it was for us), and we owned the thing 6 years with no major problems. Had to have the brake rotors replaced after about 2 years, but I suspect that was mostly driver induced. Only negative I can think of is that Honda does fall short on their warranties compared to their closest competitors.

Hava a friend with a Kia and it was in and out of MX the first year pretty frequently but has been reliable since then. Don't know anything about the RAV 4.

Did she look at the Mazda CX-7 or CX-9? They are both pretty nice, but they probably will not last as long as a Honda or Toyota.

Has she seen the new Escape / Vertex? The Echo Boost engines are four or so years ahead of the tech used in the competitor's models you're choosing between. They have some neat features for the Mrs. like doors that open by sliding your foot under the door.

Both Toyota and Honda are doing styling refreshes on the models you mentioned. When you see the new models, you want to avoid the ugly duck 2011's. The RAV4 has available third row seating.

Or, find yourself a 1999 to 2003 BMW 5 Series (E39) wagon, preferably a 528 or 530 with the slide out tray in back. More utility than a truck, drives better than a new too heavy BMW. ... Or try to sell her on a Subaru WRX (2009's my choice). Drive the WRX and any of the new Corolla or Civic on tall struts lose their appeal and the WRX is every bit as functional.

If serious about a new Mini SUV, why not the Mini Clubman, or a Evoque? Range Rover Evoque - Pulse of the City project / Welcome to the Range Rover Evoque Pulse of the City project

Life is short, don't drive boring cars. Any of these will run 150,000 miles with regular maintenance. The question is, will you want to drive it that long?

P.S. I'll also second the Mazda recommendation. Their new CX-5 with the diesel (if they bring it here) will be cool. I've found Mazda to be bullet proof and have owned three MX-5's, four RX-7's and the wife's current car is a 6 hatch. Probably put 500,000 trouble free miles on these.

The Mazda SUV's are not quite competitive on mileage. They are revamping their engine line up and newer models with the Sky Active engines will see quite an improvement.

Wife has a 2004 CRV and we've never had any issueses. Its not the most fun driving car, but it does have a lot of space and works great with all the baby stuff. They are redesigning it in a few months, so if you wait you might get a great deal on the current design.

Off topic, first Delta South training experience on a new aircraft, are they still pc only or are none boot camped macs all right?

She's been driving a dodge caravan and loves the utility of the space in back. She also has a mini cooper s, which although a massive joy to drive, is too small for her utilitarian wishes. We are probably going to sell both. I just put new yokahamas on the mini too.

She likes to sit up a little higher and wants the space that's why we are looking at the little suv's. Personally, I like the tahoe, but it is way more vehicle than she needs or wants.

We looked at the jetta sportwagon tdi. Nice little rig, but too little. If they still made a passat tdi, I think we would go that route.

Beamers are great, but even as a car guy, I would dread any transmission problems...Even I dont have a source of inexpensive parts for those.

I had not looked at the eco boost stuff. The newer ford transmissions with 39 external sensors have been giving owners and dealers fits.

My Geekie/Techno wife really likes all the sync stuff on the Fords. She passed up an Explorer and went for an Edge. Sits high like an SUV but has more of a car feel IMHO. From the front door forward, it has more of a minivan look that I didn't like......but it's her car so I bit my lip;)

That's hard to tell...

The Joint Venture Protocol spells out the JV basics and is a trilateral document.
It's signed by all three CEOs and all three Union Presidents.

MOU14 changed the compliance window and has two signatures on it SD and TO...

The objective of LOA12 was to capture downside protection
The later MOU14 then essentially gives the protective mechanism a three year hiatus for the promise of future growth.

It is more likely we'll modify the JV prior to the end of the current compliance window than for us to reach the end of the window...

In fact it is not unlikely AFKLMAZ will shrink prior to the end of the three year compliance window thus bringing DAL into compliance not by us growing but by them shrinking...

In the meantime they are down 1-3 flights and we have cut 8+ flights
We are below 50% and in compliance...

Good times!

Cheers
George
