A year from now if it still looks like all RJs, then I'll be ticked. Difference is that it is exponentially more grating when DALPA picks it up and parrots it. You probably haven't been around long enough to hear this one used with frequency. However, soon you too will figure out you are climbing the burning rope courtesy of DALPA and our sub par scope section. |

You are correct: Past performance is a great indicator of future results NWA 1998 contract set a new bar, so did the DAL C2K, and so did FDX 2002 for the cargo world.:) Make sure you are comparing apples to apples here.... Profitable company = high paying pilot contracts. Money losing/Bankrupt companies = concessionary contracts. |

A year from now if it still looks like all RJs, then I'll be ticked. You might notice that the initial schedule contains a fair amount of Delta Connection carrier flying. Or, did we enter into a slot swap telling folks that we would replace US Air's money losing regional operation with a money making, less expensive, mainline operation, which offers the consumer more choices and better service? Perhaps we bought into an idea during better economic times and now aren't really sure what to do with it in 2012. The RJ's are place fillers since we have them under contract anyway and we don't want to simply abandon slots we bought, fought and paid for. IMHO, the slot swap makes a lot less sense now than it did when we were going to run a real airline out of there. I don't think we can beat Jet Blue's level of service and in flight entertainment with 50 seat RJ's. We already tried this against Air Tran and lost lots of money and market as a result. (FWIW, the CRJ900 and E175 are cost equivalent with mainline service and make much more sense) |

Hey guys, has anybody asked DALPA why 90% of the LGA expansion is being done with subcontractors? I am curious as to how they might spin it.

The old line "The RJ's are just going to used to set up new routes for the mainline" has been proven to be a line of BS Time after Time.... Nobody has ever come up with a route that was started, then taken over by the mainline....Ever... DALPA You Just Have to Loves These Guy's |

I was a little surprised to see Slowplay say the company hamfisted it. I guess a little water was spilled, but it also could be spin...we know whats best for you. Slows post quoted: Keep this in your files and revisit it in 2013. Prior to then the two terminals (C and D) are not physically connected. Kind of difficult to run a competitive connecting hub when your flights aren't able to connect except by bus in LGA terminal traffic. The terminal construction project will take about a year and $100 million. That will modernize the 1980's Eastern (USAirways) terminal and connect it to our existing Terminal D. Management couldn't have been much more ham-fisted in the way they presented this expansion to Delta employees. They sucked. The DCI "expansion" is 42 DCI slots moved from DCA, and the majority of the rest coming from JFK, then MEM. The LGA schedule includes a whole bunch of DCI RJ's replacing USAirways Express turboprops. One other thing, just because we have the new LGA slots from LCC doesn't mean we picked up their passengers. Their frequent flyers still have the option to go LCC through PHL, DCA and CLT. FWIW. |

My guess is it will be a banner week at the post office box/mail box.
There is DCI flying in LGA already, merely shifting more to LGA doesn't make it any worse than before. (and consequently OUT of other markets that will be backfilled with something....and they are still parking 50's as fast as they can get out of the contracts!) The fact that DAL, Inc. is going to initially replace 32-44 seat Saab and Dash-8 all-coach class flying with 66-76 seat two-class jet service is a big jump already. I would not expect a prudent manager to dump "instant money losing"124-149 seat aircraft on routes like that, would you? When pilots start polling/surveying/voting with scope as the priority, then we will get scope as a priority. It is on the top of my list, but I refuse to get bent out of shape over something that is allowed and makes sense to do from management's perspective. In past votes at NWA and DAL, the majority of pilots voted to allow "permitted aircraft types" in the 44-76 seat range(more for the Avro's). That's right, the MAJORITY voted to allow it to happen. Active pilots on property from 2003 and earlier were eligible to vote on those agreements.... Where was the outrage then? Let's focus on supporting the Negotiators, keeping our MEC reps aware that they are accountable to us, putting on a VERY unified face to Mike Campbell & Richard Anderson, giving ourselves the fortitude and leverage needed for capturing scope and massively rejecting any TA that doesn't achieve that goal. |
Hey, can we talk about something IMPORTANT??!!
The Packers just lost to KC...and now it's Tebow Time! My prediction, Denver beats the Patsies, the same way KC just beat the Packers. |
