Yes, 40-50 mainline narrow bodies - except they want to fly them at the DCI's. That's OK, we'll trade them for no more hats and another choice of Intl crew meal entree's :eek:

MD90's perhaps?

I've been saying since this merger was announced that there will not be any hiring for years. We are going to shrink down to a 7000 pilot airline. Delta cannot beat down its pilots any more so now the plan is to outsource to Delta Connection to keep lowering the bar. Unfortunately, now Delta's plan is to also outsource our wide body flying to Lufthansa and Air France. The future is not looking bright.

That is a little Mellow Dramatic, but I do agree that we need to watch this JV. It has some very big downsides if we are not careful.
Funny thing is that we are the cheap labor in all of this!

Wow! Now that's some seriously bad attitude. I'd agree that any "synergies" that would emerge from a merger would necessarily entail a smaller workforce across the board. But cutting out the equivalent of the entire pre-Delta, Delta South pilot group?

Ouch. :eek::eek::eek:

Maybe down to 10700 in a few years but not much less.

I can actually see us going North of 13K after the recession.

MD90's I'm sure. I hear we can get 3-4 MD90's for the price of 1 737-800.

There is a tear in my eye, I was called twice for inverse assignments this morning. It brought peace to my heart that there might be hope for us yet.

And, I had to buy a one-way ticket for my wife to non-rev out of Virginia to ATL after 1 full day of trying and tomorrow looking just as bad. Neither RIC, ORF, PHF or RDU had seats, IAD or DCA were very close and maybe doable but for a 4 hour drive it wasn't that viable. Kind of mixed emotions, like not being able to non-rev brought hope. All of the flights had excessive HKs and HK1s on them. Hopefully people paid full price for tickets. :rolleyes:

Don't we have 68 DC-9s? Are we going to replace 68 airplanes with 40 to 50 jets? :o

I did to. For 180 round trip I am sure we are not making much if any money on these flights. We are just trying to keep them full by offering fire sales.

I do know that one issue with the fall bookings was that they were not existent. People are booking weeks out not months. I guess we could be packed full this winter. I guess we could hope for that!

That's not likely, we are much cheaper as a pilot group than either AF or KLM.....

They are likely ****ed at us for taking PHL-CDG, PIT-CDG, EWR-AMS, BOS-AMS.

Need I keep going?
