Its really bad for commuters. If you can do LC from home but not SC then you are looking at that many more commutes and hotel/crashpad expenses.
The really lousy thing, they don't ever want to use their SC pilots. Only been called out twice in 7 months. |

Here's how it can go - and has happened to me in NYC.
Sunday (off day): Check schedule at 1500, SC next day at 0500. Commute to NYC on day off. Monday: SC from 0500 to 0500 on Tuesday. Tuesday: End SC at 0500, no trip. At 10am, they assign SC for the next day. Surprise, you get it again! Can't commute home because I have SC the next day too early to commute in. Wednesday: SC from 0830 to 0830 on Thursday. Thursday: End SC at 0830, commute home only to find a 3 day trip on Friday. Report time? 0700. Turn AROUND, commute back to NYC. Rinse, repeat. |
Kind of ironic ...

What's even better is sitting short call and the trip is given out on a green slip:confused:

Police Continue To Investigate Fatal Old City Beating, Mayor Nutter Offers Condolences CBS Philly 23 year old beaten to death near Liberty Bell in PHL. "It was 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning when the beating occurred on the steps of the historic Second Bank of the United States near 4th and Chestnut Streets. Kless, his girlfriend and another woman left Lucy’s bar on Market Street and headed to Chestnut Street to hail a cab. " Holy crap... I've been jogging right across the steps of 2nd bank and all through that park in front and that area, couple times a month. And walking to/from bars on Chestnut and 2nd, via 4th st, several times in the last few months, after dark. The place looks completely safe, I would never suspect something like this there if I hadn't read it. This is pretty depressing, PHL was one of my favorite layovers due to that exact area's niceness and some great bars there... |

Ok, I could use a little help with these retirement plans... I have FOUR plans showing up at Fidelity, only two of them have $$ in them. I'll admit it, I'm confused as to what these plans are, why some have $$ and others don't. Please be gentle, I never had a 401k or pension or DC or any of this in the military, and the shorthand names for these things in all my reading is just confusing me more. Can anyone give a brief rundown on why 4 plans exist with two empty?
Thanks 1. Delta Pilots Defined Contribution Plan (401k) -- has $$ in it, got $300 in 2012 so far. 2. Delta Pilots MPPP (401k) -- has $0 in it. 3. Delta Pilots Plan (401k) -- has $$ in it, got $50 in 2012 so far from employer contributions. 4. Delta Air Lines, INC. (401k) -- has $0 in it, no contributions I keep reading " the Delta Pilots Plan" or "the DC plan", which don't match any of these names exactly... thanks. |
Any short call over 12 hours should count as TWO SC periods. So - if an intl pilot sits three 24 hr SC calls, he would be done for the month. Of course, this whole problem will be self correcting in a couple of years

Philadelphia is a high crime city ... not to mention Camden, NJ is across the river. Philly averaged something like 324 homicides last year.
Philadelphia crime rates and statistics - NeighborhoodScout Come on brothers!!! Where is the Love??? Philly is a tough city, and it usually leads the pack for homicides every year. Its so I don't even watch the evening news. On another note...Radio reports are that the police are all over it and they are getting close to an arrest. The city is mostly allright if you keep your wits about you, ...just don't take that short cut through a dark alley. |
