Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
DAL has watered and fed Alaskan for the last few years. They are flying our customers under the 'exclusive codeshare' deal. I guess the 'exclusive codeshare' is not so 'exclusive' anymore. Guess who Alaska signed up with to channel passengers to? Emirates! Alaska will now be supplying passengers to Emirates on their SEA-DXB flight. They are mainly targeting the Indian tech workers with this move. Emirates is hoping to get SEA-India passengers to fly SEA-DXB-India... the same passengers we take from SEA-AMS-BOM! Here is the link:
Emirates and Alaska airlines launch frequent-flier pact for first Seattle flights - Puget Sound Business Journal
We keep feeding and codesharing with everybody and in turn get f'd in the rear end. We don't have product control over Alsakan or anybody else. We must do our own flying. We warned about stuff like this happening in this same thread several years ago.

THIS is the problem with outsourcing down to being a "ticket agent".
Eventually, the people who do the actual work figure out that they are paying you for essentially nothing, and go out and cut their own deals, and deal you out.

Just read the C44 article on "Unity." The article that was submitted to Admin was a different than what was re-written and published. What was published was a fine article, but the real point was stripped from its content. Perhaps it was seen as inflammatory. Do not know why they did not put the real writers' names on the publication.
So, humbly submitted for your review is another take on "Unity." I do not disagree with anything my MEC Admin wrote, but it appears as though they were holding back.
Unity is defined as a "State of Oneness, a state of not being multiple." Unity is defined structurally, as in Delta pilots perform all Delta flying, represented by one union. Unity is a single entity which holds this Company's entire productive capacity under its control. Unity was defined by our Union's Founder:

Hey... if I can't convince my MEC, perhaps I can convince you and you can convince them.

Delta Air Lines Expands Codeshare Agreements With Chinese Airlines
(RTTNews.com) - Delta Air Lines (DAL) announced expanded codeshare agreements with China Eastern and China Southern airlines, which will provide more options for customers traveling between the United States and China.
The agreements, recently approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, will allow both Chinese carriers to place their codes and flight numbers on Delta-operated flights between Seattle and Beijing. In addition, China Eastern will place its code and flight numbers on Delta-operated flights between Detroit and Beijing.
The airlines' agreement already allows China Eastern to codeshare on Delta's flight between Detroit and Shanghai; and allows Delta to codeshare on China Eastern-operated flights from New York and Los Angeles to Shanghai as well as China Southern's service between Los Angeles and Guangzhou.
In addition, once the expanded codeshare is implemented, Delta and China Eastern will provide codeshare service to 34 cities within the U.S and China, while Delta and China Southern will provide codeshare to 18 cities in the two nations.
China Southern and China Eastern are both members of the SkyTeam international alliance, which also includes Delta. Later this year, Xiamen Airlines, which operates a network of domestic and regional services throughout China and Asia and whose major shareholder is China Southern, also will join SkyTeam.

Glad this constructive engagement that DALPA is practicing with the company is working so well . Starting with TO'M's MOU that reset the look back on the AF/KLM JV significantly to the company's advantage. This was an MOU that clearly impacted pilot jobs at Delta.
All the company needs to do now is sign on just a few more code shares and the pilots can strike all they want and it will have little impact on the company. Checkmate DALPA.
Glad we have a forward thinking top notch strategic planning commitee.

No need to lose any sleep over the "donut-hole, crack-pipe smoking DPA supporters".
The entire group, including Carl on this forum, are in the perfect position. Let me explain.
1. Assuming the contract opener is shared with the pilot group, Carl will come in and state the DPA could've/would've done "better".
2. If the opener isn't shared, and the TA is less than what people think the D-ALPA might've been able to negotiate, again Carl will say the DPA could've/would've done better.
3. If the TA is adequate, in terms of what the pilot group has expressed they wanted, Carl will post........., yup you got it, the DPA could've done better.
I have a great idea. Instead of the DPA supporters always talking about what their "independent, in-house union" could do better, why don't they concentrate on even getting enough ballots (read: support from the pilot group) submitted so that the idea itself can be brought to an election?
The very fact that the DPA is still around, and hasn't offered any public support for our "current bargaining agent" shows Delta management how big of a "dis-unified group of buffoons we really are.
Again, Carl's position on this board, or the DPA thread, is a "win/win" situation. Just like the "Coward-In-Chief's" position we have in the White House. (I'd rather not get into the voting of 747 pilots at NWA to keep their pensions so that the junior guys could hit the street twice, but lets just say that he's not in it for the entire group.) What'd you and your group give up Carl? Some crew meals?
Anyway, bottom line, with one month until contract openers, I think our pilot group needs to appear a little more unified than it does, but what do I know?

Had this happen a couple weeks ago, and no you do not get an extra day off. Talked to a couple schedulers to get this figured out.. If you blocked in at 00:43, you go off duty 30 minutes later, so that would be 01:13. This entitles you to 01:13 on your next day of work, so instead of being able to get scheduled a trip at 6 am, the earliest you can get scheduled is 7:13, and the earliest short call you can get is 6:13. or if nothing is on your schedule by 3 pm they could call you 1:13 am for a 1:13 pm show. I was in about an hour past midnight, and they scheduled me for 8 am short call my next day on, which is what they would've given me anyway so it didn't help much.
This does not happen automatically. You have to call a scheduler and tell them. It will be marked on your schedule as a partial x-day.
